one of the most deeply intelligent statements i have ever seen on this website! it's like the equivalent of a Hindu achieving Nirvana... makes me think of Siddhartha... you go through all of these stages of learning, each one more functional and valuable than the last... and the great irony is that, this insight trumps and contradicts all of the other insights...
but like Siddhartha... you have to make all of those other "valuable" mistakes to get to this simple realization, that really isn't simple at all!
Interesting point. But in regards to "fake" line movements that were brought up earlier, they don't exist. That being said, there are times when fading line moves is profitable and the same can be said for following line movements as well. Timing is a key element and also looking at the market forces of why a number is moving. Neither of which are very easy.

Sharky, stop being an ass. I have already said, i dont give a rats ass if you buy it or dont buy it. I will not lose one minute of sleep over you not buying it. Your a big time successful gambler, keep doing what works for you.
I dont need covers to write an article about something that i use and has worked for me to believe its good. I have never said that all lines moves are fake line moves, its a very small number and they are always moves to the dogs, not to the favorites. These plays have worked out well for me and dont care if you believe that or not. Theres no reason for me to make this shit up and never in all my years on this site, have i ever made any posts saying am the best capper and how am betting 10k a game or any of that other bullshit stuff you read on this site. Maybe next year or the year after it will stop working for me, but right now, when i spot a play that i think is a bullshit move, it wins. I wish all my picks would win like that but they dont. good luck with whatever method you use to pick your games, hope it wins for you
and it never loses
this just keeps getting better

first off its hard to determine a true reverse line movement play, because the numbers you see on all these consensus sites really cant be trusted.
One of the big tools i use to decipher a fake move, is when i see a game move down on the dog, when i know damn well that dog doesnt have a chance in hell of winning.
Lastly on every game every day you are going to have sharp players playing one side and sharp players playing the other side, its just the nature of the beast. Look at the hilton contest for example, some of the leaders are one one side and some of the leaders are on the other side. No real magic formula.
Those who enter the Hilton contest are not sharps. All you need is $1,500 and a face to enter. Bill Simmons, a columnist, not a pro capper, is one of it's leading endorsers and participants.
It should make perfect sense the Hilton Contest pickers have a 50% winning percentage. The overwhelming majority are square bettors (with a few sharps possibly thrown in here and there).

I'm only on page 2 of this but I think this is my favorite thread I've been in today. I've also been curious and wondering about "fake" line movements as well. The uninformed are going to hate but take some time to think about this and it makes pretty damn good sense. It's psychology, reverse psychology and maybe even reverse reverse psychology at times.
I do have a question for Scalabrine though, when you see a reverse line movement (different than "fake line movements) what do you do?in other words, how can you tell which side they are TRYING to get you to play?
"They", being Vegas, are not trying to get you to bet any play (other than to limit their exposure from a large number of bets coming in over a short span on the other side).
These books in Vegas operate on limited profit margins (between 5 and 10%) and want to maintain that over the long-term. There is no need to have 90% on the Steelers on Sunday Night Football so they can root for the Chiefs because they have inside info or the because the game is fixed and they know the outcome (obviously, this does happen on some level especially in college sports so I'm not saying it doesn't happen). They truly want balanced action but sometimes cannot get it and therefore are forced to take a side.

Right on
I do believe that they take sides sometimes, hence "trap games". That SNF game for example, the oddsmakers may have had a true line of 7 or lower on that game but they knew the public would slam Pittsburgh so they opened it to the next key number. Knowing that they'll be hoping for a KC cover.
I know you mentioned that, just throwing it out for some discussion.

hey dickhead why dont you crawl back under the rock you came from or at least learn how to read. I never said everyone wins, but out of all the things i use to cap a game, that one method works the best. Am not a millionaire from gambling and i dont bet 10k a game like the frauds on this site say they are betting. Just a person who who has worked for some books and has been betting for over 30 years. I was sharing what i have come to learn and just because dickheads like you disagree with what i say, that doesnt mean its not true. Its funny how since you say fake moves dont happen, then its not happening Really who the fuck are you? Gods gift to handicapping? Your just another internet big mouth running his mouth off on a subject you cant grasp. So keep doing what your doing and i will keep doing what am doing.

Hey jerkoff and you are the king of jerkoffs on this site, this post once again proves how little you know about anything, the hilton contest is indeed filled with pro bettors, not everyone but a lot of them are. Fezzik who won the contest 2 years in a row is one example of a pro sharp being in the contest. Also in the real world where guys arent on the internet saying they are making a dime bet here and a dime bet there, a lot of squares dont pay 1500 to enter the contest. Like i said already, you know jack fuckin shit about the hilton contest and the type of people entering it to try and win 300k plus.

Gotta love the clowns here, when i say the book is creating a fake line move to get some action the other way to help balance their bet, you guys laugh, but then in the next breath you say books are trying to get balanced action
Lastly its so comical how some of you can sit here and say somebody is wrong about something and that your opinion is right on the subject. Really why is your opinion right? Because you said and think it is.
I doubt most of you even have a pot to piss in or a window to throw it out of, yet you act like you know everything about what oddsmakers and books do with their lines, its downright funny comcial. Maybe someday your minds will evolve from the stone ages and you will learn something in life, until then carry on in the dark

Really to all you guys who think books dont play with their lines, quit gambling today and instead you might want to take up knitting, because you are for sure going to fail gambling in life. You have zero chance at winning a penny.
One other thing, look around this site or any other gambling site and you will see guys always spitting out the public is on this side or the public is on that side, like they themselves and the side they pick isnt part of the public Heres a newsflash for all of you, unless you are a sharp bettor and makes all of your money from betting on sports, you are just a public bettor like everybody else. That goes for me and all of you clowns who think you know everything about gambling. Your just the public like everybody else.

Maybe it is funnier that after almost a week and no one really agreeing with you, you continue on. Let us move forward and agree to disagree. You can feel like you do and the rest of the world can feel the way we do. You can continue on your ways. It would probably further your point that the next time you see a casino head fake, you start a post to alert us the other bettors to it. That would be one way to educate the other people on this site. I see no point in calling everyone dickhead, jerkoff or clown. Does that help your argument? Does that make you feel big? This forum is for education and discussion, not for hatred and petulance.

p.s I have not insulted you, please do not call me a dickhead, jerkoff or clown. Just show us a head fake, I think that would really be super cool. Here I have started the thread for you.

I agree with you on that and didnt call everybody in this thread dickheads, only a few guys who keep beating a dead horse with their bullshit comments. Like i said already, i never claimed to be a genius handicapper winning millions of dollars, all i posted was what i have come to learn thru the years and just because somebody on here says its not happening. Really what makes their opinion more right then mine? Because they said so? Really do they have a degree in line making 101? Do you see my point? I have already said that the next time i saw what i believed to be a fake line move created by the book, i would post it here. You would think that these clowns would wait until after i posted a few plays and they all lost before saying something doesnt work, thats what i find really funny. Also like i said, this thing with the line moves didnt work before the internet and the line services you can subscribe to on the net to watch live lines. Back years ago, when a line moved, it was usually a very sharp bettor causing that line to move.
Am sure some of these guys think sharp bettors dont bet favorites or that they dont play monday night overs
So the next time there is one, it will be posted right here and no i dont have a clues as to when they will come. Its not anything i can predict. Its a matter of watching how the line goes all week, waiting for a big move and then seeing if that move to the dog is justified, because like i said already, its going to be a favorite play, not an underdog play.

am sure if that post made it appear like every one of these plays win, because thats not true, if they all did win i certainly wouldnt be on this site arguing with jerkoffs like you. Truth is the last few have hit for me, with packers being the last one, but like i said they all dont win. What i posted was what i have come to learn over 30 plus years of gambling, it was to try and help people, not bullshit them with lock of the years and all that other crap. Even my occupation which am retired from now was based on helping people. I have no reason to bullshit anybody. Now just because your mind isnt able to think at a higher level, doesnt mean other people cant. Am sorry you dont know how to read lines and understand what it means when a line moves. Am sorry you have to rely on sites like sports insights or a paid tout to help you with your picks, theres nothing i can do about that. What i find really funny is how you can sit here and say what i say isnt happening, yet you got nothing to back up your big mouth with. You just like to run your mouth off on topics you cant grasp. When i post the games when they come up, that will be my backing up my mouth, what have you got big mouth? Except for your own opinion which means jack shit. Like i have already said before, what you say has no bearing on anything in my life, so really crawl back from under whatever rock you came from

This post basically goes against everything you have bashed me on. So now your saying books will create differnt lines to trap bettors My God thats exactly what i have been saying about the oddsmakers playing games with the lines. Its funny if you say the oddsamkers are playing with lines its happening, but if i say it, then its not happening. I honestly cant stop laughing now. Thanks for agreeing with me finally I knew you would come around
maybe i shouldnt have called it a fake move, then you guys

Uh we already covered that and I'm talking about opening lines higher than they should be. You're talking about them moving the lines to trick line watchers.
Two completely different subjects

sorry sharky but its basically the same exact thing, the oddsmakers playing with the lines, because theya re taking a stance. Its funny how if you say the oddsmakers are doing something its got to be true, but if i say the oddsmakers are doing something witht he line its not true because you disagree with it. That really is so funny. Yup the books are gonna move off a key number of 7 on the pitt game and go all the way up to 10-/11 because they believe they will get all pitt action, thats taking huge chance they wont get all kc action since theya re passing some key numbers. But hey you keep believing what you say is right and waht other people say is wrong. When i get some plays i will post them to back up what i say, why dont you post some proof that what i say isnt true, besides your own opinion which i have already stated, means jack shit. You must think your sharp because you took a handle and created a website called sharkys den, that is funny. Probably dont have 2 nickels to rub together thou.

sorry sharky but its basically the same exact thing, the oddsmakers playing with the lines, because theya re taking a stance.
Sharky, please post your qualifications that make your opinion right and mine wrong, besides your name being sharky? Just using that name on a gambling website, shows what kind of phony you are. Your opinions are so great, you couldnt even keep a blog open, nobody was going there for your info
Hey heres an idea, why dont you callup some big books and ask them if they do this? am sure they will tell you
