Question for Religious Folks

bs, until you have read any parts of the multiple versions of which you speak you have no creditentials to spew.  The changing of a few simple words to make reading easier in no way changes what the Bible teaches.  Your cut and paste tactics are weak, but you wouldnt know because you have already indicated that you havent read any part of any Bible.

  Doesn't your adamant faith alone qualify you in religious terms,holy? How do you feel about the term HOLY,otherwise?

The Bible teaches that the earth is around 6000 years old.  Some scientists teach that it is billions of  years old.  Some scientists belives that it is 6000 years old.  The ones that lean to 6000 believe that the 2 methods of determining the earths age of billions are flawed.  Ultimately the age cannot be proven either way.  Both viewpoints rely on faith and assumptions.  My faith is in the Bible.

Eagle, i didnt write that stuff about the hiv version of the king james version of the bible you read. why dont you make a commitment to reading the real bible and not the cliff notes version? you realize they only said "hell" 14 times when it's supposed to be used 54 times? that's bullshit dude, i cant believe youre gonna stand for that.

I dont read the NIV.  To me, its too today.  While it is easier to read and follow I dont prefer it.  Trust me, a few words here and there does not change the Bible for what it teachs.  The writers of the NIV used a thesaurus of sorts for purposes of easier reading.

I cant sit here and look at the internet all day giving you answers.  I will do it as I can.  Number 1 has been answered.  Now on to #2.

Dinosaurs were real.  Literal believers of the Bible believe that dinosaurs and man very well could have co-existed.  In the old testament the Hebrew word Tanniyn is used in a few different places.  The translations for that word are sea monster, serpent, or most commonly dragon.  Also see Job 40:15 and begin reading there.  The creature described could very well be a dinosaur.

When I say too today, I mean in the words that it uses.  When I read the Bible I prefer to get the old language feel to it.  It is no different in context.

i am not a big fan of having to choose between one or the other, rarely do i find absolutes in either. but i am a big fan of logic, and i see both the faith based systems of religion and modern day science as having major flaws.  as it stands today, medicine and modern science have little more appeal to me over prayer, but i don't subscribe to either. personal preference is again, logic and reason. AND rationale.

rationality is supposed to be what makes humans unique, yet humans have proven time and time again that when treated as macro-economic data, their actions are wholly irrational.

as for your important questions, my guess is you find comfort in sciences organization thru man made metrics that give you a peace of mind in explanations and reasoning. i don't subscribe to any particular faith based system, yet i see advantages to piece mealing my individual beliefs from the whole spectrum of ideas.

i think it is a function of "de-evolution" that so many spend so much time worrying about where we've been, rather then where we're going.

as for my limited knowledge of the christian bibles explanations for your questions vs accepted science,,,,,

1. i'd side with science's 4.5 billion years old before c.bible 6000 years old. however, how important is this in a broader sense? What can you do with that data? I'm more concerned with how much time this planet, or our sun, have left. i think it's important to remember that the human perceived notion of time, is just that, a man-made metric 

2. were dinosaurs real? well perception is reality. i would place my bets that dinosaurs 'were real', there's likely many species we do not know about yet, and will discover in the future. hell, as some go extinct, new species come to being. there would have been a point in time when humans didn't exist, no? Do you believe that this is the first time that humanoids have walked on this planet? Or do you think it's possible that our species has cycled over time, and maybe 1 billion years ago there was humans with more advanced technology then we have discovered/invented today?

3. this is an absurd notion. that at the blink of an eye, there was two lone humans, that began this current cycle of procreation. science doesn't have an answer for this question either, as far as i know.

4. i think this is a bible story, that is more likely an analogy, but i'm not sure. I'd question one's faith in Scientism if this is supposedly one of the ten important questions that must be answere. I talk to my dog all the time, and in his own way of communicating, he 'talks' back to me

5. do animals have souls too or just humans? I feel all living things have 'spirits' of some sorts. What is Scientisms' view on this

6. how hard is it to find both sexes of every animal on the planet?  I guess you are attempting to make a mockery of the christian story of Noah's ark. i'm not really sure what kind of answer you'd expect to this type of question. What does Science have to say about "how hard" it is to find both sexes of every species on the planet?

7. to be intelligent and religious dont you have to dumb yourself down into believing biblical facts that are just "wacky"?  IMO, to be intelligent, you must come to terms with the fact that no one has answers to all the questions in life. faith based systems are coping mechanisms.  i think intelligent people have more questions then answers,,,,,,,, but i don't really get the question here

If a man is caught in the act of raping a young woman who is not engaged, he must pay fifty pieces of silver to her father?  Then he must marry the young woman because he violated her, and he will never be allowed to divorce her? seriously?  THis sounds rather archaic. Scientism would have you believe that the rule of law knows better then personal instinct. Science would place an arbitrary number(age) as to what defines a young woman. So you might be 22 and meet a 16 year old girl whose is physically similar to most other 22 year olds, however Scientism will dictate thru rule of law that because of these arbitrary numbers, sex is in and of itself 'rape' between a 22 y.o and a 16 y.o,,,,,,,,as an aside, imo monogamy and marriage are part of (christian) belief systems, and somehow those who follow Scientism have adapted them as their own.

9. if you work on sunday, should you be put to death?
Is this the Christian religions belief? .  I live amongst the Amish, they are SO not into working on Sundays. Either am i, never have and never will. doesn't have much to do with any religion on a personal level, just the most economical day to always have off from working. Who wants to work on Sundays anyways, if you take off Sundays religiously, it's not an issue when NFL is in season

Adam and Eve did populate the earth and, yes, through incest.  God did not forbid this until much later(Leviticus 18 6-18).  Adam and Eve were perfect genetically so therefore there was no deformed or retarded types to worry about in the early days.
