I find no evidence either way to believe or not to.  I still choose to believe in something.  I just don't know what it is.  And I prefer it that way.  I enjoy the mystery of what it could be rather than thinking I know what it is.  Personal preference though.

One day, when your 16 year old son wraps the car around a tree while not wearing a seatbelt and he gets rushed to the ER,  then the MD tells you there is nothing he can do for your boy, then who will you turn to?

Now, if you do not have children right now in your life, then you cannot fathom the amount of love you are capable of dispensing. And by the way, when/if this ever happens to you, I will guarantee you that you will get religion damn quick.

that is absurd and nothing on this earth will ever make me believe there is a nice guy in sky. i watched my father die at the hospital and i did 2 tours in iraq. those experiences have me firmly convinced that there is NO god. feeble minds turn to faith in the face of a vulgarity they cannot comprehend.

i agree with austin.  i know emotions like desperation and insecurity can compromise one's intellect and ability to use logic and reason but why, after an incident like that, would i turn to an all-powerful god that at best allowed the crash to happen but possibly even directed it to happen?  that just doesn't make sense to me.

Even if they did, it wouldn't prove there was a god. And what makes you think it would make a difference? Why would "god" save one person, but not another? Do you think everyone who prays for someone gets what they pray for? Prayer just makes people feel better...

The fact that i preach Christianity on here which is full of goodness and love, yet you responding like that further illustrates my point.

i do not have to give you any reasons. nothing i, or anyone else for that matter, have to say to you will make the slightest bit of difference to you. you believe what you believe and seem to get a giant hard on talking and talking and talking and trying to convince people you are right. reading post after post after post it becomes abundantly clear you just love to blather and pontificate about a subject that ultimately can never be resolved.
