Lets be honest about religion

The only reason any of us assholes go to church is because of our own selfish reasons and fear of what happens after death. If the concept of heaven was never talked about in the bible, none of us would go to church. We don't go to  church to thank Jesus for dying for us, we go because we want to go to heaven. Every church I have been to is full of ex-addicts and fucking weirdos.

Birth is frightening and so is death. (innate confusion) 

Animals are eaten alive every 3 minutes by top predators but are given a mechanism (physiologoligal calm response) by mother nature in order to succumb without pain and pass on peacefully..

Religion is bullshit.

Humans are arrogant as hell.

Buddhism has no " heaven ."  We practice our faith not necessarily for rewards after death but for a better life now and hopefully move on to another place after death to a better place than this.  Hopefully a world with less hatred and violence and more peace and serenity.  This world will always be troubled because of the worldly fires of GREED, ANGER and DESIRES known as defilements.  The root causes of human sufferings and hardship can be traced to these.

if the tornado victims in Alabama had to solely rely on the feds for help, we would have been fucked. The local churches did a hundred times what they did. That's not to say that organized religion doesn't have issues.. But your statement is idiotic, and that's the nicest word choice i can think of...

good point.  a lot of these churches do good shit in the community.  no reason to attack them.  of course, i'm the first to be critical of the ones who use their self righteous bullshit to bring other people down and/or try to impose their beliefs or carrot and stick ideology on others, but the ones who don't bother others and just go about their business deserve nothing but praise.

i don't want to generalize about churchgoers as i'm sure peoploe have many reasons to go to church beyod what the original poster stated.  that being said, because of what i do, i bet i've met more born again christians than most people in this world.  it's amazing how many child mo0lesters, murderes, rapsists, and really, bad fuckin people are born again christians and want to tell me how all the truly bad shit they have done is ok now because of their god and this whole born again christian loohole.  

i've only met one born again christian in my normal social circles and he is pretty fuckin weird but for the most part, this is a scary group.

I believe anyone meeting you for the first time would be a very scary ordeal for them.

You are right we are all assholes, worthless self righteous assholes always primping our own egos.  Good for nothing sacks of garbage really I'm surprprised God even wants anything to do with us at all.  Once a week I donate money to church and hopefully it goes to good use.  There are some very good people my best friends in my life were all in some way associated with the church.

When he wrote most of this he knew death was near, goddamn the dude was smart on philosophy but you know I'm 1 dumb mother-fucker and I probably disagree ...Granted I've likely spoken to god in some crazy trance, and since my mom said he exists I cannot think she lied ....l always ask/ponder those who think "religion/god" exists, but their ignorance clearly explains all the BULLSHIT
