been going to an old school shop with my boy barber pole playboy mags and sports on tv

14 dollar cuts

12 dollar shave hot towel hot lather straight edge cut finished with a mentholyptis stone

bill comes out to 40.00 he gets 50.00 and he has never complained and we are greated with smiles everytime we enter so i feel my tip is appreciated

That's cool nickpocket. I'd like to find an ole chool barber again and get the straight blade shave cut. Sounds like the real deal minus the bullshit.

I got it done at "Art of Shaving" in Vegas once in Mandalay Bay. I HIGHLY recommend it, especially if you're someone that isn't the type of person that can grab a bottle of Colgate and a disposable razor and go to town. I'm sure the normal barber shops do well when it comes to this, but when I got it there, they taught me what was the best way to shave MY face in the future and went over it a few times to make sure I was good to go.

Before, using the best razors and most expensive stuff I could find on the grocery shelf, I used to get ingrown hairs, razor burn, etc. Using their stuff and how they taught me, I RARELY get any of that stuff now. I noticed a difference immediately.

My girls great... she cuts my hair well, it costs me 20 or 25 including tip and she's cool as fuck.

Last time I was down there she saw some guy in the lobby who was an old friend of hers... when she was cutting my hair she got into how he lived near her and her and some friends were calling his house knowing he was there but he wouldnt pick up so they walked to his house and looked in the downstairs window and hes beating off over a bunch of porn mags

and continued to trash her good old friend for a little while. Shes a funny broad.

Please do not go to this place. I went to one in Kansas City, and the broad cutting my hair was definitely not attractive like the ones in all their ads. And to top it off, she couldn't cut hair for shit. My hairstyle is pretty simple, and she still fucked it up. Some sports memorabilia and a couple of televisions are definitely not worth that experience.

And I give my current barber a $5 tip for a $15 haircut. Seems pretty reasonable; it just sucks that I have to do this every 3 weeks or so. I need to grow my hair back out and save a few bucks.

I shave my own head so I haven't paid for a haircut in quite some time. My tipping practices, however, are pretty consistent regardless of the service provided. Like Steve Martin in My Blue Heaven, I believe in over-tipping. Perhaps this comes from having worked in the service industry where tipping is an essential part of what one makes. Anyway, 20% for me is standard for decent service. Since $4 on a $16 charge is more than that I'd say she is out of line in her reaction. If it were me, I wouldn't go back.

I got a straight razor shave from a local Italian here in Jersey and I was a bloody mess. I will never do that again.

I think the $4 was fine, I give 4 or 5, depending. I have a regular barber in New Orleans, I always tipped her $5. She got to running through my haircut, talking with the other barbers etc, and got neglectful and did not cut it right. I told her that if she could not take a little longer (I hate 12-15 minute haircuts) and did not like my tip to just tell me and I would go elsewhere. She got a little slower and better after that. My kids and grandkids, most of them, live near Chattanooga. There is a lady there that has been cutting some member of our family's hair since 1975, I always give her $5 tip and she tells me it is too much. When we fled from Katrina we went up there, she tried to give us free haircuts. We settled for half price that time as we were short money. I gave her $10 tip the next few times. We kid each other a lot, too. She gives my grandchildren their first haircuts, the great-grandchildren, also. Also gives them wedding presents sometimes. A friend as well as a barber.

$4 is good.

Been going to the same old guy for 20 years. Speaks real good country lingo, loves to fish, and is a true degenerate for both basketball and football. We talk sports the whole time, then he puts heated shaving cream on my neck that he trims off with a straight razor that would cut your ear off in a milisecond its so sharp. He sharpens that thing on a barber's strap circa 1920 that hangs from my chair. VERY old school. $12 bucks, $2 tip and I'm out of there in 30 minutes.

Up until 9 months ago I got my hair cut by the same chick for about five years. Always great,she knew what I wanted. It was a no appointment place but she knew when I was due to come in and would hang a few after her shift to see if I'd make it in. Only time I got a bad cut was when she went on maternity leave, she actually trained a chick to do my hair while she was gone but it never came out right. Cuts were always $13 and I'd tip $5. When they had specials and cuts were $8, I'd give her the other $10, hell I would have spent it anyway, why not give it to her. I since have decided to grow out the fro for a new look for awhile, but I will be going back and re-establishing because it hard to find someone who knows your hair well.
