we all make mistakes.

Best thing is to call the guy, if he's offering house painting as a way to lessen debt, DO IT. Do not borrow from family; especially any kind of in-law. They will always use that as a weapon against you during ANY argument, matter etc. I know this first hand.

Most bookies would take the plan be straight with him. Say you bet over your head, and this is all you can do ($100). Don't be a dick about it just level with him.

The stick to the plan. If you kick in an extra $50 a month, you'll be free and clear in a year.

This is really sad for you but more importantly for your kid.  It may seem annoying at times but reading and singing your kid to sleep is a special time.  Can't you at least wait until you are done reading and your kid is asleep?

I've only fucked over one person in my lifetime. It was when I was in college and I heard about some random bookie in the person frat who had an online site and was taking all kinds of new clients. I thought I'd go for a quick score vs him and quit. Put 500 on a game lost. Then a 1000. then 2000. Then 4000.  He didn't put any credit limit or anything and I got down big fast and started chasing. I couldn't buy a winner and he only called me to see if I was good for it when I was down 8000. I told him I had loads of money and would take one more shot to win it back and if I lost I'd pay him. Did a two team NBA parlay moneyline  for like 8 grand with blazers ml being the last leg. After leading whole game Magic hit like 4 3's in the final minute to make it close. Blazers miss a few foul shots and Magic have ball down 2 with 1.3 seconds left after a timeout. Turkoglu banks in a 3 at buzzer from 40 feet away and my heart stopped. I didn't have 16 grand to pay this fucker and I knew he could do nothing about it. He sent some tough jewish dude from his frat over to threaten he and I told him straight up I don't have the money. I then made up a lie saying I owed another bookie who was connected to the mob even more money than I owed his friend and that I would pay him after I settle that debt. If he had a problem with that he could take it up with the imaginary tony soprano guy I told him about. I also said if he wanted to rough me up go ahead. I told him you're not a very big guy and I'd probably end up winning the fight if he wanted to go that route. Never heard from them again. Only time I ever stiffed someone. I didn't feel too bad. Guy had no muscle and wasn't going to risk getting in trouble over my debt. He had made a shit ton of money off other suckers that year anyway. I've lost some large amounts of money to bookies in past and paid them every penny. Not this pushover though. I learned a valuable lesson from whole thing and have stuck to online books where you have to deposit what you lose in advance so you cant dig too big a hole.

I got dumped and got in over my head gambling one time. Call me pathetic all you like. If I cared what you thought of me I wouldn't revealed anything negative about my life.

Thats bullshit. Dont bet if A) you cant pay or B) suck at sports wagering or C) all of the above .....as in your case.

so obviously this guy is from Denville NJ. Im about 20 minutes from there. Nice upper class family town. I live in an upper class town. But if you gamble 8 grand lose then tell the cops Ill beat you down myself. You should be ashamed of yourself. Do what he wants you to do. IMO you deserve a reality check. Alot of mob families in NJ. Seen the sh.it myself at a factory in Delaware. 2 young guys that I worked with, back in92, 93, 94 were real azzes and bet all the time, every game with their "SYSTEM". fIRST COUPLE WEEKS WENT FINE. tHEN THEY HAD A BAD sATURDAY, AND sUNDAY, EACH MAKING THE SAME EXACT BET AS THE OTHER. cOME mONDAY THEY ARE BOTH DOWN 2200 2300 OR CLOSE, DOUBLE DOWN ON THE rAIDERS mONDAY NIGHT, IF I REMEMBER AT THE TIME THE Raiders were "GREAT" on Monday night. They lose, and come tuesday they tell the guy from second shift to tell his book they dont have it and will pay 50 a week. Wed., Vito corlene, and Meatball marselli show up in the Lobby and ask for Skebo and Jeff.... They go out there, come back in the plant and both leave for the day. The very next Morning they are both out in the parking lot with their Fathers and the 4800 plus each in hand...

They were 19 and 23 years of age, both pretty stout but were in for a serious azz woopin had they not paid. Then they would still owe... If was funny the bunch of us out in the fenced area watching it unfold...

Sooo embarrasssing... but these guys meant business and they dealt with the wrong person. It would be insane to be in a Frat and run an online game without physical support, just because of people like Messier....

Set up a payment plan of $100/week and the bookie will be happy that you are working with him in good faith.  But also give him the disgression to put a bullet in your head if you become a deadbeat and start skipping payments.  He would rather get paid than to see you perish, but you do not deserve to live it you cross him down the road.  Hope this helps!

As much as your wall street brother is an a.hole as you call him,talk to him,tell the story honestly,make that 100$ a week payment plan to your brother rather than the bookie.That's what brothers are for.No,not to pay off your foolish wager debts consistently but to lend money if you will be in physical danger.and fuck the bookie,he's probably a pussie and he can shove the paint box up his ass.
