i was a small little book 15-25 guys and i wouldn't take anything more than a $20 bet from my good friends. i'd give em to the guy i use. i anwered phones for him when i was 14-18 before the computers took over. he wouldn't chase anyone unless it was a big guy ... a guy that would bet 1000+ ea bet = big guy. and he would never use violence. this guy had thousands of clients. the most he would do was call you into his office and work out a payment plan with him.
he got busted by the feds. the feds couldn't get one person to testify against him .... not one. people even did time instead of testifying. politicians wrote letters saying how much he has helped the community blah blah ... because he really did. the guy was found not guilty and didn't go away. he had to pay a big fine ,,,
i guess the moral of the story is ... if you're a piece of shit book, your clients will beat you and if shit ever hits the fan .... there will be plenty of people to testify and smirk at you from the stand .... and most importantly, cops don't care about bookies ... but they do care about people getting beat up. ![]()

that's it these days ... if you have 50 good guys and 1 guy beats you ... who cares ... no more action from him unless he pays and move on.
a good book has good clients. good clients pay. so, a good book rarely faces this problem.
