Wow. 2500$ per.......held a nice little ETH position until the other day (on accident).
Does anyone have any idea at all why BTC and ETH are rallying to this extent? And don't give me the "its the future of commerce" spiel.......what fundamental reason has kicked crypto currencies to the moon?
Personally, I have no clue.

We must never forget this when investing. I have some Bitcoins and have been very pleased with the result (thanks to Vanczak for helping me get set up) but this is a speculative play only. Remember, at some point the US government will crush any "new currency", it is only a matter of time.

While I concur that bitcoin and ethereum are the top dogs as of this writing, and if my research is right I believe ethereum will surpass bitcoin eventually due to its wide range of applications, there are a ton of other up and comers in the cryptocurrency world that are in their infancy which I believe can produce profits similar to those of bit and eth. I do own both bitcoin and ethereum, as I believe these two will continue to produce gains, but for those that are new to the market, such crypto's such as factom, ripple, and monero are worth taking a look at that can be had for much less. That said, the crypto market is extremely volatile and those looking to invest should be aware that they should never invest more than they can afford to lose. here is the possibility for huge profits but there is also the possibility you will lose a lot. As with any investment, my advice is to do your research and not blindly get caught up in all the hype before you invest. GL

Can anyone explain why Coinbase has approximately a $30 difference between their buy and sell prices?
If I click the "Buy tab", the quoted price is $30 higher than what I can sell my Bitcoin for at the same time...I don't get it.
I used Circle for two years, until they stopped trading in Bitcoin this summer. Circle seemed far superior to Coinbase. I haven't had any problems with converting to cash and getting deposits into bank account, but the overall functioning of the site is awful.
Is there any legit reason for the different quotes? It seems like they clip you depending on whether you buy or sell.

Sorry to inform you but this is 100% impossible. We are talking ONLINE CURRENCY that is WORLDWIDE. The US can't do ANYTHING but try to start taxing people on profits. This is the farthest thing from the truth.

Gone are the frustrating days of paper bags or suitcases full of cash bills (possibly even secretly marked ones) being left at untrustworthy drop sites (for both the ransomer and the ransomed).. Untraceable bank/wire transfers,,, what a pipe dream that was.,,,
NO MORE! thanks to bitcoin a smooth trustworthy shakedown can now be had by all in the most efficient way possible.

Beginning of a new dawn (cryptocurrency) and I think people don't truly understand: is BTC a store of value or digital currency? The latter belief is what's driving the masses to be so bullish, but there's much work left in order to become useful / effective in our day-to-day lives.
No doubt that the near future of currency / trust will be blockchain based but there's quite a few other crypto's gaining traction that have vast improvements over BTC.
Amazing to be experiencing this in our lives.

The price will then crash down worse than 1929, and be banned.
Conversely, the Dow Jones will skyrocket to at least 50,000 and as high as 65,000 or more in the coming years.Mega Bullish. Buy Tesla Motors instead of bit coin or not at your own peril.. By 2030 Tesla will go from $350 to over $5000/ per share.
