You're oblivious. The fact that you read something and somehow believe that you are an expert or knowledgeable in the slightest is hilarious. If you want to have an educated opinion on a matter then EDUCATE yourself; but as of right now, you're just making yourself look stupid (proven by another member simply laughing at your comment).

The monarchy is figurative and the role of the Governor General is symbolic. The GG has used their power less than a handful of times in our entire history (with the last time being in '75) and every time, it was highly controversial. So although that article you read might have stated that it could have happened, in reality, it was never going to happen and it likely never will happen again.

With all that being said, I think we should break free from the monarch as well. Not because we follow the King/Queen's orders (we don't) or because they have the final say (they don't) but because Canada has long been an independent nation and all the ties that still link us to the British Empire are tax-funded and a damper on society.

That's the thing... Germany, Switzerland, China, Canada and the like get attention when they deserve it. The States get attention when they force it down everyone's throats. It's like when your principal would lecture you at school... you'd shut up and let whatever they were saying go in one ear and out the other so you could get back to your own business as fast as possible.

In the end, if you think bullying countries into agreeing with you means they actually agree with you then keep living in the dark... but every bully has their day.

No I agree with you, but my point is that from the tone of your statements it is almost like you are jelous.  I could be wrong, but not sure why you are so defensive.  The US is due to get theirs that is for sure.

To be honest, I'm not happy with either country. To say I'm jealous of the States would be an extreme overstatement but to say I love Canada would be the same. I'm just tired of big governments overextending their reach into my life. I want true socioeconomic freedom and neither country can give it to me.

Afghanistan war (trying to institute American democracy in another sovereign nation)
Iraq war (trying to force a sovereign nation into disarmament)

Cocaine raids in South America (trying to stop America's drug problem by invading other countries)

The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan were not naked aggression, but were in response to an attack on the US itself...in other words, the US has the right, duty and obligation to it's citizens to retaliate after being attacked.  And they were not trying to institute American democracy on Iraq, they overthrew a brutal dictator who they thought was a threat to the US because of all of the WMD's that we knew he had..or did have.   We knew he had them because we gave them to him...

Restricting trade with Cuba and Iran?..lmfao...these are outlaw countries with brutal repressive governments...you're supposed to be the liberty guy..there is no liberty in those countries, just repression, pain, suffering and hopelessness..The US is on the side of what's right, not what is politically expedient at the time and we would hope our allies support us when the time comes for action.

Cocaine raids? Oh, that's a horrible thing...LMFAO....we went on cocaine raids at the request of South American governments because the situation was out of control in those countries..we were invited in..so where does bullying come into the equation?

Liberty?  There are different types of liberty...Individual, classical, positive and liberty and everyone has their own interpretation of what liberty is or is not...The US stands for liberty and freedom and what is right. And we are not afraid to wade into a fight to defend what is right  unlike almost every other country in the world regardless of the costs associated.   The USA is the greatest country on earth, but we never claimed we were perfect.

 It sounds to me like you THINK you want the ability to do whatever you want, to whoever you want , when you want to do it , which is more like anarchy,  but in reality, your just full of hot air.

When did Afghanistan attack America?

Why does America have the right to go into countries and disarm them without being provoked?

I believe that every individual has the right to live life as they see fit as long as that doesn't interfere with any other individual to do the same.

I wasnt even going to post in this thread but now i just cant help myself. First off, i wanted to say that i like canadians. Almost every single one ive met were very cool and i plan to visit there in the future. So im not going to take any shots at them, but i will single YOU out.
First things first, we didnt attack afghanistan, we went there to hunt down the cowards who attacked us. Attacking terrorist groups isnt the same thing.
Next, are you actually defending sadaams right to hoard WMD's? When a mass murdering psychopath is gaining the ability to kill millions of people, ITS A BAD THING. Somebody had to step in and do something about the fucking idiot. The whole world is much better off now. And when somebody of power falls, it can create a power vacuum which is very dangerous. We are trying to teach them how to live like humans instead of dogs.
Im not even gonna waste time explaining anything about cuba and iran because its painfully obvious why they shouldnt have even been mentioned.
I'd like you to explain to the families of the thousands that are slaughtered by cartels how victimless of a crime the cocaine industry is. The cartels are more powerful than the governments in south america, so when they asked for our assistance, we went.
In closing, i'd like to remind you that if any nation ever fucked with canada, we would be right there in a second and turn their country into a parking lot.
