Thanks for displaying your ignorance. We arent' talking about who wins this game, we are talking about who covers an 8-point spread. If you think Ohio State pulls off the victory then obviously you think they cover. Ohio State D played Penn State pretty tough even if they didn't get the win, held them to less points then USC. The point here is all the pressure is on Texas, this was Ohio State's year to win the National Championship and they blew it. Doesn't mean they aren't a good team. Plenty of value in these guys, not sure if they win the game but I think they cover the spread. Hope for a SU win!

???WTF??? dude, take what money youve already won, and relax. better yet, take a nap cuzz you sound tired with the way you are overthinking this matchup. its this simple... Texas is a great team. Ohio State is an average team.
I'll take the great team minus 8.
You can sit back and watch the Suckeyes cost u money.

Irish, yes, they did get mudstomped by USC but they played that game without their best player, Beanie Wells, who is, with out question, a game changer. Even with that said, it may not have made a bit of difference but will never actually know if there would have been a change in final score. Not saying OSU would have won but would it have been closer. USC does play at the shoe next year but Beanie will be playing on Sunday's. Everyone talking about how Penn State lost to USC in the Rose Bowl a home game for USC. Play that game on a neutral field in the GA Dome and split the crowd 50/50 and outcome might be different.
We won't know how strong or weak the Big 12 is until the end of the week. But Oklahoma State lost, Texas Tech lost, Kansas beat Minnesota (one of the weaker big 10 teams), Nebraska squeeked by Clemson, and Mizzou got lucky to get by the "Harvard" of the Big 10, Northwestern.
Everyone is correct when saying the Big 10 had a down year but don't talk about how good the Big 12 was just because they scored 60 points a week on each other. Remember they also allowed 40-50 points.
I guess will see how badly OSU wants to win and show they are one of the premier college programs. This is a good spot for the Buckeyes and it all comes down to how well they are prepared. Is Tressel a great coach or lucky he has talented players? We will all see tonight. As a Buckeye fan I am hoping for a good game, but this is not a game I am betting.

A quick thought in defense of the Big 10: Michigan and Wisky - two of the best programs - were down this year. So of course the conference is going to be down as a whole.
But look what happens if Oregon St. goes to the Rose Bowl. The matchups suddenly become: Oregon St.- PSU, Georgia - Ohio St., South Carolina - Michigan St., Mizzou - Iowa, and Northwestern - Kansas. If that had happened, the Big 10 probably wins the majority of those games.

How do you figure Ohio State has no motivation? The two below are plenty enough for this Buckeye team.
1. Past Bowl Losses
2. Losses to Penn State and USC this year.
I really believe you have no idea what your talking about...Big Ten has very good coaches and one of the best all time. Your comments are not well thought out.

Making excuses for an Ohio State cover. So, if they cover, they got lucky Texas played poorly but good enough to win. And if the Buckeyes win SU then Texas played horrible and just gave them the victory.
Is that what you're saying? If not, it sounds that way.

Which program should hire a new coach?
Should it be Illinois, which went to the Rose Bowl last year? Should it be Penn State, which went to the Rose Bowl this year? Should it be Ohio State, which has averaged 11 wins a season for six years and has played in the last two national title games? Should it be Iowa, whose coach is constantly approached by NFL teams? Should it be Northwestern, which just posted a nine win season? Should it be Michigan St., which just finished third under a new coach? Should it be Michigan, which just hired the coach everyone wanted in Rich Rodriguez?
Let me know.

Normally I would like Texas here...anyone who thinks they won't show up because they got snubbed on the NCG is wrong - they think they are still in it to be crowned #1. If OK sneaks a close one out against FLA and TX blows out OHSt...TX will have a serious argument to that effect.
That being said, the line mvmt here is eerily familiar as those of you who have been paying attention know. TX has been a popular pick since this game was slated yet the big money is going OHSt and the line is moving thusly. Everytime this situation has happened the public has missed. It looks to me like that spells trouble for TX. TX is my one lucky team over the past few years and I really like them here but this one circumstance spooks me. I probably won't play it for much if at all but if I do, I'm gonna have to recognize the line situation...OSU +8 / Over 51. BOL!!!

Nice post reads111, a "both ways" tease may not be a bad play because this game does look like a TD game. Too risky for me because being off a TD either way is very possible, but your logic is solid and reflects some balanced analysis. Of course, after Utah/Bama how can we all not forget that anything can happen.?
I also agree with you about motivation: both teams have a LOT to play for. I expect the intensity to be high on both sides at the beginning of the game. That sometimes works against you, especially in a precision type offense like Texas runs, but can be an asset for a defensive minded team. If I won the toss I would definitely choose to defer if I were either coach.
