tuesday special doesn't apply to thursday games.  I think rutgers is the better team here.  UNC struggling with McNeese St.  Rutgers lost to a team that could challenge for a BCS game.  I agree that Rutgers plays well on Thurs games of late.  Going to lay the points.

you can have the best wr in the world, but it won't mean much if the qb can't throw the ball.. unc should be able to get pressure on teel, which should make it hard for them to get there offense going..

Your right I totally goofed. I though the game was on tuesday.

I am also leaning towards unc.

Public is all over rugters and the spread isnt moving, this is also a prime time game.

had to put a ML bet on UNC... it's the only bet i can see that makes any sense on this game... if Rutgers struggled to get their offense, and especially their passing game, against Fresno St, i don't see it get any easier here... UNC is gonna sneak up on a lot of people... and they actually have some offensive weapons now, too...
 
basically the two deciding factors for me, otherwise i would stay away...
 
1) UNC is a more well-coached team... it shows up in all of the little things... mental mistakes, penalties, special teams...
 
2) betting an ugly looking dog on Thursday night early in the season is generally a good way to go... UNC getting only 4.5 or 5 on the road on a Thursday night doesn't look like a bargain to too many people, i'm thinking...

North Carolina +5.5 (2 units) vs. Rutgers - when I checked the line this morning it was still 4.5 points and Rutgers was getting around 72% of the public action.  Well 15 hours later and the line jumps up a point to 5.5 and the public has actually gone up to about 76%.  I'm not quite sure what happened today when I was at work but it must've been big.  Both teams need this win badly, Rutgers maybe more so because of their opening loss to Fresno St.  Rutgers has the better defense but they are susceptable to the big play, which suits UNC very well with their amazing WR Hakeem Nicks.  The QB play should be about even, but UNC has two pretty good RBs and a better OL.  UNC also has the edge when it comes to special teams play, although they have one huge factor going against them.  The Tar Heels have lost their last 20 games outside of the state of North Carolina, dating back to October 5th, 2002.  Butch Davis is in the rebuilding stages at UNC, and he will face his protege Greg Schiano who has rebuilt Rutgers.  It should be a good battle of wits here with two close colleagues going against each other.  Both teams have had 2 weeks to prepare so be ready for a slugfest.

if you want revenge games look into Auburn and Georgia... those games fit all 4 revenge factor categories...

so i don't know... line is low, which begs for Rutgers money... i assume the books know this (they always do)... but man i know i am gonna want to be on Rutgers a few times this year when they can really abuse some CBs with their pro WRs... but i don't see this being one of those games...

so i'm still at a no-bet... maybe UNC ML somewhat small if i start to lean that way...

lol...i dont kno why ur talking about a revenge factor....rutgers and unc didnt even play last year dude so why are u even talking about a revenge factor....ur capping to much...lol

Rutgers will have a better showing Thurs. UNC gave up 27 points to a D1AA team and with a team like Rutgers that should increase. Teel seems quite angry he couldnt make those passes in the endzone. He'll bounce back.

remember, UNC was up 14-0 before they stopped the game against mcneese state.. that was a huge reason the game was that close.. the weather was also very bad, which was a factor in the offense of UNC..

jus something to keep in mind..

Not much more to add to what have already been posted by many. Fresno St by many experts is the team to watch this season so Rutgers losing to them wasn't much of a surprise to many.

Rutgers -

21-9 ats in non conference games

14-2 ats when they rush for 4-5 yds per attempt. North Carolina's defense spent a lot of time on the field against an inferior McNeese St. So although Rutgers ineffective running game showed against a strong Fresno defense Rutgers might find their running game in this one.

NC-

4-8 ats in the last 4 years in non conference games

12-4 ats in their first road game of the season. This one made me think about this game a bit.


The key to this game IMHO is if Rutgers finds their offense against this NC defense. NC is 1-10 ats in road games when allowing 250 yds passing in a game. IMHO Teel should able to find his passing attack against this NC defense but if NC decides to play the pass then that  might open up the running game for Rutgers.

Although they cost me last week I like.....
