Navy looked like poop against Temple.  Rutgers looked like they will be a force to be wreckoned with in the Big East.  Last year when Navy was decent Rutgers whooped on them in Maryland seeing it no different here.

As I said earlier, the Big Three of the Big East look like great calls this week.  Navy did not play very well last week and Rutgers.  Rutgers discovered they had a little bit of a passing game which is surprising considering Teel is their quarterback.  Everyone knows what Ray Rice can do.  Everyone also knows that Navy is the most run happy team in football.  Last week against Temple they only threw seven passes.  This week they face all-American Eric Foster and All-conference Westerman on the front line, who should not only contain, but shut down any running attack by Navy.  Does that mean Navy is going to pass?  No.  Rutgers should run away in this one.  Again, if you want a sure thing this week, take the big three in the Big East, WVU, Louisville, and Rutgers.  Hope everyone makes that money.

Navy stinks, they couldnt even shut down pathetic Temple. That game was a real insight into how bad Navy really is this year. Temple was the bottom of the barrel last year and its not like HS football superstars were beating their doors down in the off season. Rutgers D will be well prepared to shut down the Navy run, and even if they switch it up and pass more I dont think it will effect the outcome of the game that much. Im thinking Rutgers by 23 right now.

Last year, everyone was on Navy and thought I was crazy for pounding Rutgers. Perhaps everyone being on Rutgers should be a sign. NOT. Rutgers rumbles again. Lay the wood and be rewarded. Good luck gang.

navy's runnning ability will make it impossible for Rutgers to cover this spread. Running means time of possession, and Navy is great at this game. I see Rutgers winning but not by the spread. Besides, this game is on ESPN, get it? The underdog is the smart play here.

The only problem I see with this argument, is that going 3 and out does not take up that much time.  Navy's running game won't be able to run around the front line of Rutgers, probably tops in the Big East, and all Rutgers would have to do is stack the box.  This Navy team is not as good as last year or the last couple of years.

One of the systems I use would be a definite Navy play here if Navy was playing at home but their not.

Home boy from Hawaii Kaipo-Noa looked pretty decent in some of the Navy highlights they showed of him on last weeks game.

Both teams won me some last week might be a no play for me.

Big game, big time, prime time -- good time.  If you believe this Rutgers team is as good as last year's or almost as good, lay the points.  If you think Navy's less than they were than last year's team (by all indications they are), lay the points.  And if you think Rutgers is looking for respect on prime time, lay the points.  But if you think this Navy team has the ability to throw (?), take the points.

It all depends on the situation. I have played dogs in the first half a few times but mostly against teams that love to run the ball, both teams with good defenses, Big double digit dogs at home, home revenge games, etc. etc. you get the point.

Actually have 1st half teams that have been solid for a number of season for me.

Louisville ( new coach this season ) but covered 1st half last week

Hawaii at home number of years/ under Colt Brennan Hawaii on the road was at a high percentage last season.

Texas was solid for a number of years but under Colt Mccoy they have been a roller coaster. Did not cover last week I'm going to stop playing the 1st half plays on them pretty soon.

Boise on the smurf turf

It seems as if I only play the favorites at the half but if you look at the teams I play at the half on a regular basis they have rarely been underdogs in their games for a number of years now.

Did that make sense??? I hope that answers your question

Hey jbkuechle I actually have a dog at the half for you my lean on this game is actually Navy.

I know most of my friends on the thread are probably thinking damn! bigdaddy been smoking some of that Maui Wow Wee again.BTW does anyone know Ricky Williams number he owes me for a pound of weed.

Rice from Rutgers does scare me especially against only 2 returning starters on defense for Navy.

For some reason IMO that beating Navy took at home last season from Rutgers was not easily forgotten by the remaining Navy players of last season. I mean who would forget a 34-0 beating at home.

My lean is on Navy at the half +9 Damn! I can hear the laughter all the way from Hawaii to the mainland.

or a possible no play for me

You are the first half master, but I'm not sure this is the right dog.  I watched both teams last week and last year.  Navy lost a lot from last years team.  Their defense is especially lacking.  They both played poor teams, but Rutgers came out looking much better.

i lost money on navy last week, for some fkn reason, my house never let me play the half, only game.. wtf?.. anyways.. they couldn't shut down one of the worst offenses in football, in temple.. i don't put much stock in rutgers' win last week, seeing as it was against buffalo..navy is better then buffalo though.. idk.. if nething.. navy game, rutgers at the half.. still got a day to think about it.. gl to everyone playing mts/louisville, osu/cin, and the nfl game, saints/colts..

oahuboy I feel for you cuz. The house I use plays all half lines, final, but only some O/U's for college. Seems like ever since I was killing them on the under plays for the V-Tech games they stop putting O/U lines for those games
 
jbkuechle thanks for the props but I'm no master just get lucky sometimes. like you said Navy looked poor against a weaker team.
 
IMHO Rutgers was a better play when people used to ask who in the hell is Rutgers???????? But now that Rutgers has established themselves as a force in the NCAAF IMO teams don't take them as lightly anymore.
 
The 9 point spread at the half is the one that is making me bang my head on this one. We all agree that Navy looked terrible against Temple last week so why only a 9 point underdog shouldn't it be at least a 15-19 point spread at the half and 35-38 point spread on the final??? The home field advantage for Rutgers should at least bring the spread at a higher range.
 
With all that said when I first looked at this game even before the season started I actually wanted Rutgers at the half I may even switch over that way by the time this game starts but that 9 points still bugs me for some strange reason.

Since there is only 1 game I have to bet the game, o/u and parlay...for I am a degenerate.
 
Public is all over Rutgers = 75%.  My friend the bookie says he makes money off the vig, but mostly because "the public is usually wrong".  So the head says bet against Rutgers.  But I am going to stick with the Big East.  Rutgers is a good team, Navy only keeps it close with Smoke and Mirror coaching.  Not going to happen on National T.V. on Friday night. 
 
Usually if I take a big favorite I will play the over, but in this case I am going to again go against my own ways and play the under.  Navy is going to run, run, run and keep it close for a while.  Rutgers pulls away in the end.  30-6 type game.
 
BigDaddy, this may be a spot for that 1st half dog, but sounds like you are reaching.  You usually don't do that!   If the dog is laughing....... Your Hawaii play keeps winning me money so keep your solid picks coming!!
