USC is obviously the better football team in this one, and I really like them playing a home game in this one.  The Trojans did everything they could to backdoor themselves into the title game (won their last 4 by average of 16 points vs. all bowl teams), they just didn't get the love from the polls.  ESPN picked them to win it all in their mock playoff system for good reason.  Booty has come along and proven that he can be a big time QB, and that defense might be the best in the country.  Illinois is a live by the run, die by the run team...if they get behind early they will not be able to catch up late. The Big Ten is consistently among the most overrated conferences.  Behind Michigan and Ohio State there is nothing!  The Pac-10 wasn't even close to what it normally is, but still much better than the Big Ten...USC jumps out early in this one and coasts in during the 2nd half... Take USC HT and OVER 50.

Given the way Michigan is playing I am slow to pull the trigger on these big underdogs.  Is USC really that much better?  Illini does not belong there, but they are there

Fellas, I like the over here and thinking about throwing the house on it. Is there any reason to think these two teams can't put up at least 25 points? I know SC's D is great and all but this # 50 seems too low. Any thoughts?

ILL seems too easy of a pick to me.  USC is as always the sexy pick that the media love to hype up and preach how great they are.
 
ILL played some good football this year against some top tier teams.  There is not one reason they should be getting 2 TDs.  The only way I can see them not being competitive in this game is if they come out bewildered and in awe of the Rose Bowl itself and make too many stupid mistakes.

Good morning everyone

I had too much of a New Year's celebration last night . Stayed away from the morning games and decided to touch only the final 2 games of the day.


Both these teams made me some money this season so for me it is a very hard decision.

Illinois had a great season with sophomore mobile run pass type QB Juice Williams. Being a Longhorn fan as well as a Warrior fan I remember USC having problems with the same type of offense with the Longhorns with USC IMO having more talent on that team that season. So did  Pete Carroll and staff  find a way to stop this type of offense??

USC was hit with some key injuries this season but is back healthy again for this Bowl game. The USC front seven on defense have given a lot of teams a hard time this season and may be able to stop this Illinois running attack.


This was a very hard game for me to choose from so I stuck with the trend that has been good to me this season....

the wind is only supposed to hit 6 miles per hour in pasadena tonight, should not be a factor. i just checked accuweather.com

Chasing, I never think teasers are a good idea.  You have to hit 2 bets and only get paid for one.  If you feel the need to tease a bet, take the other side and parlay it or stay away from it. 
 
As for the game, I think it will be only won by 7 or less, and you might be surprised who comes out on top.

This is an insane amount for USC to give in this game. Take the points.

Illinois is a young team. They are peaking at the end of the year, playing with a lot of confidence. Juice Williams will give USC fits. He's too mobile and they'll have a tough time getting a read on him.

USC on offense isn't impressive. Their end of the year string was against weak competition. Cal? Oregon St.? UCLA? All very average. And it took an Oregon implosion - which beat USC only four games ago - for the Trojans to get here.

Illinois will do enough to keep the game close.

the over/under keep going down on sportsbook.com...its at 48.5 now was at 50 last night...is there something we don't know about this??  to me 50 points is a lock in this game??

Dont know why but I had a really hard time figuring out which play was the best here, in the end I went with SC -6.5 Over 42!!  The fact that SC while under Carroll had never won a bowl game by more than seven scared me a little, lets go Trojans!!!!
