You folks all over the "OVER" might make sure the strong Santa Ana winds die down in time for the game.  Just wanted to let you know that So Ca weather is not always pleasant. 


National Weather Service forecast as of Sun night for Pasadena...

NewYear's Day: Sunny, with a high near 73. Breezy, with a north northeast wind 21 to 24 mph becoming southeast 5 to 8 mph. Winds could gust as high as 33 mph.

USC has only covered two overs this year and has only been over 50 four times.  While Illinois has covered the over 7 times and been over 50 five times. 

When Illinois played Penn St. and Ohio St. which have similar defensive stats to USC, it was 47 and 48 points, respectively.

Gotta go with the under.

Gotta Go with the Over if I bet this.
 
Both have good offense's especially USC.  They can score 50 by themselves if needed.

USC WILL COVER, ILLINOIS CANNOT COMPETE, WOW THEY BEAT OHIO STATE, WHO CARES, USC WILL DOMINATE, MY OPINION IS TAKE USC AND THE UNDER.

Agreed... the weather (wind) conditions might be a huge factor in the passing games here

Illinois can play football people. They have great coaching and a strong all around squad. I feel comfortable saying that they could win this outright, and they will most likely cover a two touchdown spread.

I will put 250 on the ML and 250 on 14.5 buying 1/2 point for the Illini.

Illinois +14 (5 units) vs. USC - alright, I think USC is the most overrated team playing today and will therefore lay a huge one on Illinois.  Juice Williams and Mendenhall represent a deadly running game that will be able to control the game today.  The Illinois defense is actually pretty good as well, I think they'll be able to pressure Booty and force him into some bad decisions.  It has to be a disappointing season for the Trojans despite their 10-2 mark, while the Rose Bowl is an amazing achievement they had a real shot at the National Championship game.  This should be a high scoring game as well, but a 2 TD spread is a lot to give up for such a high caliber game.  I'll also go over 49 (4 units) because of the previous sentence.

OVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  With a small play on ILL, just so I can say I told people so!!  USC has been having trouble covering thick chalk all year.......yes they are healthy now.......but Mich will play one of thier better bowl games in recent history I believe!!

But USC lost to Oregon 17-24 .  I'm not saying that Illinois is a better team, nor am I predicting a winner.  However, it does provide an argument that although time of possession was pretty close (29-30), somehow the weak Oregon D minimized the USC attack.
 
Most importantly a running QB gave USC trouble. Below are the rushing stats for that game.

IMHO. Dennis Dixon edges Juice.  But Mendehall edges Stewart.  This makes it a simliar type match up on "O" for USC to combat.

Anyone agree/disagree?

I've decided to stay away from this one. Don't like this big spread at all.Game could be a blowout or you could see a backdoor by Illinois. USC will win, but I fear that spread too much. GLTA

Succinctly stated College Sharp.  I have loved USC all along because of better defense, and feeling that USC wants to make a statement about next year.  Still don't believe Illini belong in this game.

But the local line is now 14 and 1/2.  I have no doubt USC wins, but they didn't cover a 17 point line against UCLA in a revenge game.  Will make a play on USC, but maybe just 3 units, and not the 5 I had planned.  May change my mind as my last 2 bets yesterday, and the two so far today, have gone well.  Will listen to more points on here.
