Who else is licking their chops for when Bama beats Auburn to make a POY?

there are really a lot of angles, that go pretty deep for me on this game, including the GOY angle... God this is hard to explain... typed it up 4 times already...

ok, think of it like this... if you were a sharp mother fucker, at the start of the year, you took Auburn (+10) (or whatever) in this matchup... now, i may like Alabama (-3) this week... but i sure as hell do not like Alabama (-10) this week... i mean, i think it could happen, but i wouldn't touch it with money!  the fact is, the guy who took Auburn (and it may have been closer to 14) made a great fucking bet, just like a lot of other GOY lines that move more than a TD by the time the game kicks off...

here's my point!  the people who get those GOY lines right (in terms of the line shift), also very very frequently win those bets... i know this because i have done this alot in the past... not sure why i didn't this year, other than the fact i had a lot of shit going on prior to football season... anyway, based on past experience, the GOY line is amazingly shrewd, in the sense that Alabama (-10) generally turns out to be a better line than Alabama (-3)... to put it simply: middle it!  middle it!  middle it!

not saying it is a lock, but i have made a lot of GOY bets in the past, where the line moves by a large amount... and i would usually shoot for the middle... and i almost always hit it, easily!

this is NOT the only angle for me in this game... and i rarely even consider that sort of thing... but this just looks like one of those games to me...

Bama is not having the year everyone (especially them) expected... but they are still a very talented and well coached team, with a strong defense and a great defensive scheme, that hasn't lost at home in how many years?

Bama has a lot of pride, and they can not be happy about all this attention Auburn has gotten this year...

so take all of this information, and then consider the point that i already mentioned... the books have chosen to take their position on Alabama... i don't care who you think will cover, or who does cover... one thing i do not consider debatable is the fact that the books are shading Bama...

you have the #1 team in the country, playing their arch rival, a disappointing 2 loss Bama team... knowing how in love people are with Auburn right now, and explosive offensive teams in general... the books have chosen to post Bama (-3) as their opening position...

add to all of this the fact that Bama has the FAR SUPERIOR defense in this game, and a balanced offense, and the fact that they will be supremely motivated... and i say to you...

what's your reasoning for taking Auburn?  because outside of 1 angle... the Cam Newton athletic scrambling QB angle... i literally do not see a single angle that would suggest that is a good play...

if that is what you are playing...

All I can say is when it comes to this game expect the unexpected.

You have some strong rationale in your posts as to why bama is a solid play, but I will point you to last year's game.

The general consensus was that #1 bama was the far superior team and would annihilate Auburn.  They had an advantage at every position on the board.  Auburn was faltering down the stretch due to a lack of depth everywhere, especially on defense.

If memory serves bama was almost a 2 touchdown favorite on the road.

Auburn's atrocious D brought it all game long and shut down the offense.  Knocked Ingram out of the game.  Had bama on the ropes the entire game until their offense put together a great drive to pull it out in the final minutes.

Nothing is ever as it seems in this contest.

atl4tigerfan... all i can say regarding last year's game... is i did not bet it, but i liked Auburn getting those points...

you said it yourself... expect the unexpected... last year people expected Bama to roll, and they didn't... this year most people are expecting Auburn to win this game straight up... currently 2 out of 3 bets are being placed on Auburn, while the line continues to shoot up...

there are no sure things in sports!  this is no exception... but this could be just about as close to a sure thing as you will find...

there are no sure things in sports!  this is no exception... but this could be just about as close to a sure thing as you will find...

Well I bet it last year and made a killing, and will gladly take the points again this year and make even more

And what makes you think they will put up 40, when they could only hang 24 at home against basically the same defense..

Cam Newton will be playing this friday afternoon against alabama, he will be in rare form as always like he is every game well prepared and will be playing like he has all season long. I can see the tigers covering the spread and winning this game by 7.the Iron Bowl has been watched by many college football fans abroad every year and it will be a great game played by both teams but I think Auburn prevails and goes on to beat South Carolina in the SEC Championship Game en route to the National Title game against Oregon

SNF ...if you a talking about the LSU game Auburn missed a FG and kneeled the ball on the 3 yrd line at the end of the game could have won by 17. They go into conservative mode when they do get up points in the fourth......Auburn 34 - Bama 28

You bet...and we may get lucky and see them matchup with a SEC team in a bowl game, and we'll find out. By the way i can't stand but one team in the SEC and that's the Alabama Crimson Tide.

shocking, another post about how you think the SEC is overrated.....we have PROVEN ourselves...what has Boise proven? you just have your bold prediction that this Boise team is somehow the best team in the nation, yet you have nothing to predicate it on, except for inflated stats against bad teams....i have 6 teams in the top 25, 2 teams in the top 5, and the past 4 national champions....i win

why is that so hard to comprehend?  If boise St played in the SEC they easily would have lost 2-3 games, and TCU 3-4 games.

The linemen would punish their players week in and week out...leaving Boise St beaten up and "not healthy" through the year.

Bama would take Boise down, so would Auburn, LSU, & USC.

However, when given a month to prepare, anybody can beat anybody...but i still would like to see a SEC line beat the crap out of Boise's line all day and all night.

Do your research first before you post a comment buddy.  NOT the same defense.  Ala lost 9 STARTERS OFF THE DEFENSE.  LSU plays a base 4-3 defense and Ala a 3-4.  We RUN for 440 yds on a 4 man front which is better than bamas.  What makes you think we can't run on them???  Oh, and 300+ yds rushing in 7 of 8 SEC games.  Ole Miss loads up the box to stop Cam?  Dyer goes for 180 and McCaleb for 99 and Cam THROWS for 300+.  Btw Cam is leading the SEC in passing efficiency.  Don't worry tho cause if that's not enuf, Nick's gonna stomp the wuss qb mcelroy w 2+ sacks.

Going to disagree with you here on the perception that this year people are expecting Auburn to win this game.

Auburn has been the team this year people love to hate or expect/want to be exposed as a fraud.  So the 'perception' out there is Auburn is a fraud, although they've continued to get it done week after week.

I think much of that has to do with a preconceived notion that in order to be a dominant team worthy of a Top 5 ranking that you must have a DOMINATING defense.  When a team has a dominating offense and mediocre defense, the public desperately wants to see that team exposed as a fraud.

Although bama has 2 losses, they are still a public team, and have still dominated this year, and there is the carry over as a national title team.

This is going to be a great game.  Although I won't lie and say I didn't enjoy seeing bama lose to SC and LSU, I wish both teams were undefeated and ranked in the Top 3 as this would be the biggest iron bowl of all time.

Also love to see how a situation like that could #uck with the BCS system, as you would have a tight ball game with 1 team losing to another team both ranked in the Top 3, however the loser would be shut out of the SEC title game but still should have been ranked high enough to stay in the BCS title game picture.  Oh well.

The best part about this game is the key pivotal questions will finally get answered.

-How will Cam Newton perform on the road in a hostile SEC environment?  Apparently the consensus is he sucks on the road and can only perform at home with his 'easy' schedule.

-bama backers can finally shut up as they'll get their chance to prove whether or not their the ones that can shut down Auburn's offense.  Apparently the 11 earlier contestants Auburn has faced sucked arse on defense and weren't worthy of sniffing Dareus's jock strap.

-Will Auburn's atrocious defense get shredded or surprise?  Survey the consensus out there and the advice would be for Auburn's defense not to bother suiting up.  Just enjoy the game from the stands.

-Will Saban prove the theory he is a coaching genius and Chizik and staff are dopes?
