I know Tom was one of the greatest.. Was young but understand that killer instinct.  The thing about the option offense is that you really don't need a set of plays or a coach in your ear.  I can almost say a lot of it is based of feel.  That could be a bit of the killer instinct.  Having total control is a big part.  I agree it is basically the spread offense but just more running orientated.  I hate to bring Notre Dame in the conversation.  But how many games do you think Kelly would have won with Notre Dame last season.  The guy is a controller.  He is just on top of things and I think he was the thing keeping Notre Dame from getting to elite level again.  I think he will put Notre Dame back on the map.  They just because of the name will always be on the map, but they won't be the destination.  He makes them the destination.  His recruiting for the 2011 season should be something to be valued especially with the lack of seeing any thing on the field.  I was a bit worried about Kelly at first but I'm always worried anyways.  Now I really see it, this was the right hire at the right time.  They will be back and they might make a splash this season.  I was really worried about this team but from what I've heard honestly I think they will exceed most peoples expectations.

What did I tell you many months ago? Brian Kelly is the Answer, the truth, the next great one.....

See, he has those killer instincts that I was talking about. Only a few guys in the game now have that. All of those guys I mentioned on the first page.....IMO are as good as it gets.

I love the game of football, and sometimes I feel like I see things differently than your average fan.. and when it comes to Coaching. I know who's got it and who don't........and Brian Kelly has IT.

Oh I get it.  The problem with me is I get a little skeptical about my teams, that's it.  I just question the decisions that they make.  I would just sit there and think, about Charlie, could this guy really motivate me?  Hell no.  I always thought that.  This guy couldn't tell me anything.  He could show me superbowl rings but I don't think he could really motivate me.  Then I think back to previous Irish coaches more importantly Lou Holtz.  There is just something about that guy that just makes the blood flow.  Now with Kelly I'm starting to feel that.  Really starting to feel it.  I mean everything I read, everything I hear just gets me jacked up.  I know we are still 2 weeks away but I've never felt this way before.  This guy has something that you can't describe.  Makes me feel that my team is in control.

One thing I will tell you about your Irish from here on out....


From Saturday to Saturday... They will be prepared and probably the better coached team on the field.

College sports is about relating to your players... make them feel and believe the same things you do. It's about every man being in unity and all wanting to accomplish the same goals.

Brian Kelly can make that happen.

ha.  I agree man.  He is a tremendous coach can't wait for the season.  Hopefully everything goes well.  Hell I might have a superbowl champ this year and maybe a National Champ next

No one has mentioned Schnellenburger (sp).  I know the OU tour tarnished his rep but they never really gave him a chance to turn it around.

He never backs away from a challenge and has started a program from scratch at FAU and brought them to a bowl win.  Add what he did for Louisville and the U.


(please OU fans we don't need to hear the stories of his drinking, Switzer likes to hit the ole bottle himself)

3. Bill Snyder  -   Most of you degenerates don't even know much about this genius. The guy is one of if not the greatest football minds the game has ever seen. His ability to recruit players is second to none. You guys should spend some time and look at some of the coaches who has left his staff's and went on to be successful. IMO his team this year will really shock a few teams and start to regain that respect they once had. He is the man who could do so much with so little.

4. Kirk Ferentz - Smash mouth and tough. This guy knows what it takes to win at the game of football. He has never been a flashy coach or the guy who was sought after every year. But to those of us who know college football, we know that this guy is about as good X's and O's coach as it gets. Fundamentals, the guy lives and dies with it. Also he is one of the better recruiters in the country. I know you think I m crazy with that statement, but 5 stars or 4 stars don't mean nothing to this guy. He recruits football players.... you get it? Players who fit his system and who will be men when they leave his program. The guy is also a very good Post season coach as well. His bowl record or especially in big games is pretty damn good.

5. Brian Kelly  -  Offensive genius. The guy is a winner and the only reason he isn't higher on this list is because he hasn't been coaching at the D-1 level for a long time. I have no doubt that Notre Dame has found there guy. He is like that "Sleeping Giant" term for coaches. Once he starts to get those recruits Notre Dame is notorious for getting, Watch out. Will he win a NC at Notre Dame? Absolutely no doubt in my mind he will, it's just a matter of time. Do I think he is a good person? No. But being a good person doesn't mean that you can coach football. To be honest with you, I think all the guys except for coach Ferentz on this list are bad guys personally. But none of that takes away from there ability to win football games and that's what it's all about.

Not arguing the list, but not having your man from Boise in the top 5 is kinda surprising. All the man does is win. Put him at a "big" school and I think he could easily match anybody in college football.

Say what you will about their conference and strength of schedule etc... but they are easily the 5th man on the totem pole (at best) in their region.  They are competing with U Texas, Texas Tech, A&M, and Oklahoma for recruits.  I am not sure where OK State and Arkansas fall in that totem pole. 

Despite this they have been pretty solid for quite a while now.

Boise St coach Chris Petersen, and TCU's coach were mentioned in some threads, which I totally agree, they are very good, hopefully they will get a shot with a major conference. However, I can't understand why nobody mentioned LSU coach Les Miles, or Oregon's coach Chip Kelly. IMO they are among the best in college football, and deserve some luv.

OMG........ Les Miles wouldn't even make my ALL - WATER  BOY TEAM...... Please don't ever open your mouth again and make statements like that.

Well to be fair he had two once in a lifetime players and an NFL defense for those championships.. I don't want to get started on all that though

Of course, but I have said it once and will say it a million times.. FSU will NEVER get back to what they once were, they don't have the money and fanbase to generate such a thing in comparison to other Florida schools around them that have been marinating in success over the last 6 years.
