Teams opting out of Bowl Season

Notre Dame, Kansas St and Iowa St have opted out.

Great optics in bowl season that we get to see 5-7 teams be rewarded with bowl games.

bowl games are going the way of the dinosaurs i'm afraid. larger playoff bracket is our future. maybe even a group of 5 bracket also with some kind of entry into the big dance at stake. just a guess.

Personally I feel that you should need to win 8 games to be bowl eligible. At this point everyone gets a shot. Rice and Mississippi state are playing and they didn't even win 6 games. But its all about $$$ no matter how or what is on the field.

Let the bowl games die! Using the final AP rankings, take the top 16 teams (no fucking exceptions) and have the playoffs. Draw the pairings out of a hat. The present system is corrupted. Conferences or individual teams should have absolutely no influence in the process. It's pretty damn simple which is why people wouldn't want it.

would you rather have a game between two 5-7 teams on a Tuesday night that you could bet on or no game at all on that Tuesday night?

I get what your saying. We all look at betting a game even if the 2 teams are 0-11.

My issue with it is having teams with losing records possibly lifting a trophy. Like are we at that point?

We have Georgia Southern vs App State.

both in the same conference and played eachother this year

App state was 5-7

this is what is wrong with bowl season.

Get rid of bowl season and take the top 16.

 totally agree...........................pick balls like the draft does and thats how the pairings go. Top 16 in the  AP

System is broken and there will never be any one team satisifed.

Instead of opting out I’d would have love the committee to match Michigan and Notre Dame.  Oh well maybe one day. 

Just look at your TV. During most of these bowl games many more empty seats every year. Iowa State and Kansas state use the head coach is gone move. Notre Dame just gave the CFP notice. They would win right now against half or more of these magic 12. Give Marcus a month to prepare well alot of people including the CFP do not remember Notre Dame played in the final game last year. 

The NIT used to be the big deal. Now it is the NCAA 68. Things change and college football has to catch up. Although bowl season does present a good way to make some end of year money!
