OK im gonna try and explain it to you, i really never depended on stats, trends and all that garbage because i dont think it always plays out the same way from week to week. I always relied on my instincts from doing this for over 25 years, I can look at any line and basically tell you within 20 seconds if im betting the game or not and you have never bet a line with a favorite that you think is short or a line that is too much with an underdog and lost???Like you said why is this line 10, it should be 3.5...Would you be taking Texas at + 3.5 because I would definitely be on them..Do you understand now??
I see what you are saying but I'm confused as to what makes you think this way?
did you take Texas in this game last season at that line?
I'm asking for this reason, people all the over forum said this same stuff last year when I had Oklahoma, yet none of them could give any facts to support their stance, meanwhile I was collecting with my OU bet, and of course none of them ever had an explanation
that has nothing to do with you, I realize that, this just reminds me of what I see on the forum all the time and I just don't understand it
so basically you would bet Texas at + 3.5 here but you won't take them at + 10, that is what you just said
that is just mind boggling to me to someone thinks that way, that you would be willing to take 6.5 less points because that is the line you feel is correct
that simply blows me away but hey, I hope you win all your wagers this weekend

I think we can all read certain things into different lines. I almost talked myself out of betting LSU vs. W. Virginia because the line looked too good to be true to me. In the end the game has to be played and anything can happen. I just so happen to believe that Oklahoma will cover the 9.5 and that is where my money will be. Hopefully Stoops can keep his kids motivated and Oklahoma can play defense like they did against Florida St. I hate to be against Wahoo on this one but my brain is telling me the sooners get it done.

GL everybody!
don't worry about being against me, I'm only 27-22 for the season, it isn't like I'm the "end all be all" here, I'm trying to beat the books just like the rest of you guys and I'm probably no better than most of you
I certainly understand some people backing Oklahoma, they have a very solid QB and alot of talent, should be an entertaining game no matter who wins or covers
I simply love watching rivalry football, best of luck bro

Wahoo- i totally agree with you- these so called "trap" lines everybody calls them each week are just bullshit. They are a traps for one gamble but a gift to another. It all depends on which side you are on. I just think that some lines look fishy because the guys that set the lines are damn good at what they do.

OK has looked MUCH better than TX thus far this year, which makes me wonder why the line is ONLY 10.. that's the only thing making me think this might be a very close game. Seems that OK is more than 10pts better than TX this year, so i'm just not sure...

I never said the line should have been 3.5, you did i really thought that this line would open at 6 or 7 and when it opened at 9/9.5 i was shocked.. So at 3.5 i would think the line is short and something was up?? Just because you are getting more points doesnt mean you are better off..I dont know how long you have been gambling but ive seen some crazy shit go down in 25 years, and you tend to learn from it, so to speak.. My game is basketball but a line is a line..GL.. Going to bed now Its my Birthday today, got to get up and work for a litlle while...

Boom you couldn't have said it any better my man...
Here's my $0.02-
With Franks reinstated this week, Stills back in action, and not to mention Broyles who is one of the best WR in the nation, tell me who is going to stop this WR core on Texas' D??? Just as Boom stated earlier, I'll take L. Jones throwing to these WR's all day over Texas' "2 qb system".

I dont see a Longhorns cover here and as respected as wahoo is on games I'm gonna have to disagree with him on this one. Long horns could'nt even score in the second half of the IOWA st game. One thing Oklahoma does well is wear you down, maybe next year the line will be -9.5 and I'd then take the other side but this year is all about the sooners and getting to that NCG, red river rivalry is a one sided contest in MHO. Lay the chalk and take home a check.

I'll say it again...Boom, you are wise beyond your years. To me, it doesn't matter if Okie covers, doesn't cover, or loses outright, your logic makes sense to me. And as sports bettors, isn't that all we really are looking for? A reason to bet a certain side based on solid reasoning and information. Once the bet is down, its in the hands of the kids and we have no control. Boom, you are having a tremendous year and I congratulate you. Keep up the great work..you are truly an asset to this forum!

wahoo - in regards what you and tinoker are debating. He is basicallicly going opposite of what Vegas is "baiting". His mindset is that is the line is 3.5 and it looks too easy he is taking texas, but here he feels vegas is bating texas backers by hanging a 10.
I think a lot of people bet this way, I for one don't see the logic. I would rather watch film and analyze the game and bet accordingly.
Maybe you can get a better understanding of what tinoker is saying.

The game plan for texas will be to run the ball and keep oklahoma's fast paced offense off the field. But heres the problem, oklahoma will score almost every time they touch the ball thus making texas abandon the running game by half time. so the longhorns will be forced to put the game on their young qb's shoulders and thats just a bad situation. too much defensive speed and qb pressure will force texas into 2+ turnovers. OKLAHOMA WINS THIS GAME EASILY IF THEY DONT HURT THEMSELVES WITH TURNOVER'S/PENALTIES. SOONERS 38 LONGHORNS 24

Here's my two cents... OU is a very talented team they have the potential to go toe to toe with best in the nation. However after watching the OU/FSU game I realized Bob Stoops will never afford this team to realize their ultimate potential.
The first drive of the game against FSU the OU offense looked unbelievable; smooth, crisp, efficient, tempo, they looked like a well oiled machine. But after that initial TD drive to open the game, they disappeared, nver to be seen or heard from again.
They will tantalize you with possibilities but my feeling about this OU team is that they will ultimately disappoint you.
Texas is the best opponnt they will have faced this season. FSU has turned out to be pure ESPN hype. Granted Texas has played no one but I'll back this Texas team getting 10 on a neutral field, in their home state, and fade Stoops.

Exactly. I think a lot of bettors have a perception of what the line should be (i.e., 7 in this case), find that the line is much higher (i.e., 10) and think that there's something that Vegas "knows" about the game which the public doesn't, and therefore "suckers" public bettors into taking Texas.
Personally, I think there's a tons of hype around OU. They're good, but their performances v Florida State and Mizzou don't justify a 10-pt line vs a vastly improved Texas team.

I like your pick Boom. I see this could go either way since it is a rivalry but last week Texas was fortunate to get 3 turnovers in the first quarter and they scored 13 points off of them. Also Texas had a drive stopped and were going to punt on 4 & 12 and ISU had a stupid personal foul penalty for 15 yards extending Texas' drive ending in a TD. That's 20 points off bad ISU mistakes. Then in the second quarter ISU had a 7 yard punt from their own 28 yd line, Texas received the punt at the ISU 34 and ran it back cuz coverage was so bad, 27 points off bad ISU mistakes. You know what happened in the second half when ISU wasn't stepping on their own dicks? 3 points for UT. Texas is not going to be as fortunate with major mistakes from Oklahoma. This with everything Boom has listed makes me go with OU but good luck to all!
