You Kneel on the ball, the chances of GT getting possession are worse than converting a 4th down. You have ONE exchange from Center to QB and no defender will reasonably get to you to cause a fumble. If you RUN, you have TWO exchanges. Follow me now, Center to QB, QB to RB. You just doubled your chances to FUMBLE and give GT possession, something they had nearly NO CHANCE of getting if you kneel. Add to that your RB is now RUNNING TOWARDS 11 DEFENDERS that are gonna try and strip the ball. All it takes is ONE FUMBLE for GT to scoop it up and possibly score a TD (Hence the Miracle in the Meadowlands link, you heard of that play?). If that happens, then GT would still be down 1 score but the KEY THING is you just gave GT POSSESSION of the football to try an onside.
Kneeling, GT has nearly ZILCH chance of getting possession and a chance to win.

Hawaii last year was the most obvious I've seen as far as shaving...but maybe because I witnessed the games first hand. TCU this year is shady at best. Anyone who thinks there is no squirrelly stuff going on in football, college or pros, I have a bridge to sell you.
