If you honestly think you can get an entire team on the take you are nuts. You have never played sports.
How could you as an athlete just throw a game? How could you get 85 athletes to do it? It would cost more to pay them off than you would win!
I have seen more threads on point shaving this year than all past year's combined. Just because you can't pick a winner does not mean a team is on the take.

I'm not attacking you by any means, so don't take this the wrong way.. .. tecnically I never wore a jock strap, but I did play 4 years of college football, and was pretty damn good at it too. I also coached for 5 years in college. I went through my fair share of practices both as a player & coach. You are correct in stating that we don't know what happened in practice, but to your point; First, if their was a problem with the starter in practice, they probably wouldn't have started him to begin with. That said, he could have said something on the sidelines? Or. He could have been calling his own plays & disreging what the coaches were telling him. I have experienced both. But, as a coach, you don't deal with that during a game, b/c the starter has practiced all week and gives you the best chance to win. You don't set an example for 1 kid, when there are 80 other players fighting to win the game. You contiune to call & play the game for the other kids and then set the example after the game.
Furthermore, he was unproductive b/c he was getting no time to throw the ball. Not everything is on the QB, as there were alot of issues going on with that offense that weren't all attributed to him.
Again, I said in my post that I'm not a conspiracy guy; and trust me when I say, I don't think a low level MAC conference coach is "on the take". But Boom is 100% correct in that, that head football coach gave up on his players. That can't be denied. I watched a La Tech team that was down 16 midway through the third play like their hair was on fire to try and comeback and win (which they almost did). Conversley, Central Michigan flat gave up on the field. It was evident. They gave up; and when that happens, questions as to why are going to be asked. That's all.
On a side note; And this is just a question (conspiracy theory aside).. and this question is to anybody who reads this;
During the end of the ND/Stanford game, the official who annouced to the crowd as to whether or not the last play would be confirmed made a first statement of "There will be no penalty on Notre Dame for excessive celebration because they thought the game had ended"
Now. My question (and in all seriousness, just asking..) haven't we seen in college football teams getting a penalty for that? I believe in the Utah/BYU game, Utah got flagged for that? If anybody could shed light on that, it would be interesting to hear as to why ND woudln't get penalized for that, but other teams have in the past. Is there a "rule" that I am missing, or just missing something in general?

Good read...I am looking at BYU as well but I do wonder if Rees could light up the Cougars if he plays over Golsten. They were lit up by Oregon St! I agree that 14.5 is a lot but how does BYU score on Notre Dame?
I am a Bama guy and you have thrown out your props all year for the Tide. My question is besides LSU (and I wonder how they will score) who in the heck beats Bama until the BCSNCG? I think Oregon's offense could score a few points maybe but who else is Bama gonna play that is good enough to beat them? The thing with Bama is that they never get too high or too low. They had some close calls in 2009 with UT and Auburn, both of which weren't very good but since the beginning of 2011 they have been crushing teams.

Htrain,
Again, let me be as clear as I can, I’m not a conspiracy guy. Just want that to be know. However, to your point; You don’t have to have 85 players “throw a game”. All you need is 1 guy, the head football coach. And again, I have to reiterate it; I’m not a guy that thinks it goes on, but I’m not going to be naive either. If you don’t think with all the money boosters have, with all the “big wigs” that follow “their” programs and with all the shady f*ckers surrounding programs, don’t think for one second it is not at least possible.
Just think about it; Just as an example we will use the Tennessee/Miss St game. You don’t think it is at all possible (completely out of the question) that a HUGE booster, or some slap dick guy with a shit ton of money can’t approach Dan Mullen the night before the game (at a booster function, which all the teams have) and say; “Good Luck Coach. Go get those VOls. Hopefully we can get’em by 10. That would make us all a bit happier. Obviously we want a big win tomorrow, but man, winning by 10 would be great” Or. If a guy approached somebody like Les Miles and said: “Hey coach, have a good game tomorrow, Akron should be a cake walk, I think beating them by 32 should be a breeze…”
Seriously. Just think about that. And again, I stress: I don’t think it probably happens. But to completely think that it is 100% out of the realm of possibilities is being naive. Especially since we have seen documentaries on teams like SMU. Hell Barry Switzer (in the film on Marcus Dupree) flat out said he bought the kid & his mother A HOUSE! Or how about that kid who was around the Miami FL program & all that shady shit. There are so many people with a HIGH influence on these coaches. These coaches have to keep a small group of people happy in order to save their jobs.. and in those small groups, you don’t know who they are, but I can tell you one thing; they have A LOT Of money and have A LOT in the say of if the head coach stays or goes. Trust me on that.

raffchd - your right
Dugie -
Yacker - Bama is terrific... But i think anyone of these teams can be beat. Oregon can do it... Bama prolly wins 7 out of 10 with them, but it only takes one. Bama is way better then LSU. BUT
LT -
Nos - Clemson cant play defense
Bigdaddy - If you bet over 100 times a week... you dont need gambling advice, you need help

Austin chill out dude. Do yourealize you just called someone out to fight over the Internet? I mean seriously, stop and think about that? And you also, made a crude comment about his wife? I mean talking crap about football and who knows more, and certain opinions about games is one thing but my gosh man. In all seriousness, take a step back and get control of yourself. I'm sure your a decent guy, and we all have moments where we lash out, but I think you owe boom an apology on this bro. Were all on here to talk football and the occasional heated debate, and a little trash talking, but we gotta know the line.

im glad you thought it was crossing the line, that's the point. You see when boom calls me an idiot, talks down to me, tries to belittle me because my opinions doesn't line up with his, to me, that is equally on par with. Crossing the line as me talking shit to his family.
You came into my thread talking shit. I defended myself and you got pissed because I did. I guess you thought it was ok for you to talk shit but it wasnt for me
IF you dont like me that's fine. Don't post in my threads. I never had a problem with you before until this. If you thought I talked down to you then I apologize, that was never the intentions.
But im about to make a guarantee to you.
1) If you dont like what I say, fine. We will argue and debate all night.... I like doing that. I like to debate.
2) But you crossed the line. And dont say you didnt because what you said was completely out of line.
3) If you ever cross that line again... I will happily meet you at the game and stomp a fucking mud hole in your ass that you will never forget....You can act like a big bad ass all you want. Im not. I m just defending what you said about my wife. But when you cross a line like that, be prepared. I would never disrespect you or anyone on here the way you did me.EVER.

Boom,
I couldn't have said it any better
The C. Michigan just had a very bad feel to it. Very bad feeling. It was really hard to understand what I was seeing. To be honest, I dont think I have ever seen anything like that.
I know a few on here disagree with me on the miss st / ut game... but the truth is, it was the wrong call. No way around it. It was a bad beat. As was the G.T / Clemson game2 weeks ago.... I said it was a bad beat for g.t backers.. but the call in the clemson game you will see a hell of alot more then what dan mullen did Saturday night.
I say it all the time

Would I really ever go after someone's wife? No, never.
It's called shock value. It got your attention. You see me saying something about your family is no worse than you calling me a kid and telling me to run along you fucking idiot.
Now I know you will argue this till the cows come home, that what I said is way worse, etc. I made my point. You are a condescending prick, who thinks you know it all. And if no one has your point of view, then we all must be fucking idiots.
As for your guarantee....
You make the statement of me trying to act like a bad ass and that you are not. Then why would you send me a message saying "dont try to act like some kind of tough guy with that little comment you made about the clemson usc game"
I'm not trying to be a badass....I'm simply saying that you calling other people fucking idiots is talking down to people. It's condesceding. And while what I said was out of line, so were you.
That is my point. I had to cross the line, which I know was 100% out of line, but I had to do it to get your attention and to get my point across. It's sad that I had to do that for you to realize this.
Back to the guarantee....
I actually respect the fact that you said you would stomp a mudhole in my ass. It proves that you do have a backbone, as a man should stand up for his family, and that you are southern lol
And I could rebuttle by saying oh no i'd kick your ass, blah blah and that we would go back and forth endlessly wasting everyones fucking time.
So in conclusion, where I wanna go is admitting that I was wrong, and you admitting that you do talk down to people if their thinking doesn't line up with yours.
I'll even never come back to your thread if you so wish. Just understand that you're not 100% right in this situation, and that it's not ok to talk down to people, just like it's not ok for how I acted.

You only see when I make a rebuttal.
I'm not a prick! I'm not a know it all....I always treat everyone with respect. Go back and look at every situation that you thought I was being a prick and you will see that the other person will make a rude comment, attack or just absolutely make up a lie. Go find a situation where I just opted to blast someone for there opinion.... you wont find it
Do I think everyone should agree with my thoughts? Absolutely not. Take a few guys in this thread..... cbowles and RLP or Train or dugie or Arid. We disagree all the time!! But do we or I ever make rude comments towards them? Do they make them towards me? The answer is no....not one time have I or they ever disrespected the other one. NOT ONE TIME!
You have to understand austin, when I make a statement around here everyone will dissect everything I say. Take this how you want to, but the fact is I do get a lot of traffic in my threads... I do get a lot of views...and I am respected in this forum. You said im very average....that's your opinion, but the truth is I have been really successful at this for a long time and my years here on covers here will prove that. I want to share my thoughts on football, picks and everything about the sport in general. Why? Because I do feel like I have alot to offer to this forum.
I respect everyone's opinion. If I dis agree with something in your thread I will approach it the right way. I wont come in and say " hey guys, boom never thinks he is wrong....he did pick Wisconsin to win the N.C game"

I tried for a long time to pick holes in Bama and they are just that good you cant. Mississippi State is at home no way they loose that. LSu will be crazy down there but I think they thump LSU. I'd be curious to see what games as it must be those two.. The best thing is they will decide it on th efield but its fun to talk about. I just cannot see this team losing to anyone I dont even think we have seen them pushed

the LSU game is gonna be a HUGE test... ask Jimmy, Im sure he is gonna tell you the same thing.
I think the big worry for me with Bama is protecting the QB. If a team could play ahead of Bama and make them throw it more I think they could exploit a bit of a weakness at RT as far as pass protection.
