Zebransky beat OU in 2007. what on earth are you talking about? and he was benched in 2005 as i recall and had a terrible year. they had a weak run in 04 against inferior talent as you allude to with a ton of seniors, but that isn't the same team as the Petersen teams.
and they lost to Nevada on two missed FGs on the road at 11-0. that's more pressure than Georgia has faced in 4 years.
btw Jimmy---love the Horns as well in week 1. We are going to destroy Rice at home and exorcise a few demons to make the fan base happy. Offense has a running game and real receivers this year. We will surprise some folks and probably go 9-3. Hearing that Gilbert's light has finally gone on. Stacey Searles has taken the o-line apart and it will be much stronger there as well.

The Oklahoma game was the season after they lost to Georgia. Yes, techically the game was played on '07, but it was the '06 season.
Zebransky played behind Ryan Dinwiddie in the 03/04 season (played in some mop up duty), became the starter in the 04/05 season, was the returning starter in the 05/06 season (the season they got beat by Georgia), and was the returning starter in the 06/07 season (when they beat Oklahoma).
I agree on Texas. I had them in this game last season, and they should have covered had it not been for some fluke plays ie. first half Hail Mary by Rice. There is great value in this line IMO.
My three night plays are NIU, Texas & Georgia. I don't see how any of those lose.

Jimmy: Your write-ups are well-thought and very thorough which makes for good reading. I would like your thoughts on the one aspect of analyzing a football game that is mostly ignored because it is very hard to quantify.
Analyzing the talent level of the skill players (QB,WR,RB) is quite easy because their successes are highly visible; they all run fast in the open field and can ply their crafts when they are not under duress. The differences between a top-10 recruit and a top-50 recruit are negligible to the naked eye; but they are noticeable to the scout with the stopwatch. Coaches recruit any and all talent and are only mildly disappointed when they get the 34th rated recruit and fail to get the 9th rated because deep down they know that both players will have similar statistics given good health and the opportunity to succeed.
The real difference between two teams that is very difficult to measure from game to game is the line play on both sides of the ball. Those who analyze games have virtually no idea what kind of adjustments are made from one game to the next when it comes to line play. They can surmise from watching the game that the line play was horrible, but they cannot know what the underlying cause was. Chemistry and repetition within the lines define their success. Of course talent is important, but measuring the talent-level of the O-Line and the D-Line by watching film and de-coding comments made by coaches and other individuals is a crap-shoot at best because there is no way to connect their performances on a daily basis.
Assuming the above statements are true, we have to determine who will win the battle in the trenches in order to find the winner of the Boise St-Georgia (or any other) game. In games where a top team from one of the well-known conferences (SEC, Big Ten, Pac 12, Big 12...) plays the best team in a less-known conference team, the main reason people assume that the team from the best conference will win is because of the perceived talent-gap in the skill positions. They do not consider line play. Good teams have good line play whether they are in a "power conferences" or not. The slight difference in skill position players often does not make a good SEC (sic) 20 points better than a Boise St. type team.

Boise State has the best coach in the country and a massive edge in this department over Georgia.
Boise State has a Top 10 offensive line in the country and 2 starters who will be on the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd All-America teams.
Boise State has a Top 10 defensive line and 5 of their front 6 are returning starters and seniors. They will also have two defensive linemen on the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd, All-america teams.
Teams that have edges that big in those key areas usually win a lot of football games which is exactly what Boise has done in recent years. Boise may not recruit the most "talented" players but they sure as hell know how to recruit smart players that fit their system. Boise State takes after their coach, they are detail-oriented, disliplined, and smart. Georgia takes after their coach, they are often unprepared, undisciplined, and dumb.

you people are fools....coaching / leadership / pride /drive / determination / guts.....are meaningless ! talent rules the day !
example: here are the rankings out of high school for each starter.....from Steele's magazine (the PS #...which is an average of 10 or so scouting services)...for 4 teams..
these numbers should tell us immediately how good each team is.....since talent is the key factor in deciding a wager......................... 1st let's check out the offenses.....of 2 unknown teams
A B QB 2 22 RB 1 41 WR 10,16,16 128,116,115 OL/TE 28,3,10,3,27,7 128,26,34,241,48,26 *this means team A's QB was ranked the 2nd best in the nation coming outta high school
Team A is obviously more talented than Team B....which one would you take?....
here team C clearly the more talented ....make your pick!
SO....which one do you want?.... IF...you picked team A.....your offense is that of the Texas Longhorns.... 24 pts/g...383 TO...5.2 yds/play...4.2/rush
oh no.....you coulda had the Oregon Ducks offense!... damn it!... 47 pts...531...6.7...5.9
lemme guess....you picked team C also....
bad news...because you've got the team that was shredded by Hawaii....and gave up more than any D in school history.....the USC Trojans 27 pts/g...400 TD...5.9/play...4.4/rush
you coulda had the LESS talented team....the Alabama Crimson Tide...(I changed alignment to trick ya)...
aw shit....13 pt/g...286...4.6...3.3 < these numbers will drop in 2011.....
The impediment to action advances action - what stands in the way becomes the way.

jimmy....great info my friend. I hope my Dawgs can win convincingly. That'd make my day. I'll be tickled just to get away with a win of any kind at this point though lol. Things have got to get better from last years performance. BOL this year my man!

Boise showed today why Chris Petersen is the best coach in college football.
They dominated the trenches against much larger athletes. Dominated. My guess is if Petersen coached Georgia, they would be winning the SEC every year with all that "talent."

all we heard all summer was UGA UGA UGA and they shit the bed tonight bad, but im sure there will be an explanation as to why...
Georgia +3.5 was a "Best Bet," not a "Max Bet." Because of the delay in the USF/Notre Dame game, I did not have enough money in my account to max bet in even if I were so inclined.
You can find my plays at the bottom of page 3 on this thread.
