I posted this already but I feel like it needs greater attention if you are thinking about placing any of your money to your bookies this Thursday on Utah -6.5. (Such a sucker line if you ask me)

Florida is going to push Utah all over the field.

Etienne is going to run all over Utah, and will be deadly in the swing pass game. And Florida has added significant speed and play making ability to its wide receiver corps. Utah's QB, Cam or not, is going to be under serious pressure because why not? Whittingham is crazy if he plays Cam. Florida is the fastest defense Utah will see all year. Cam is going to get hurt if he plays because he will not be able to squirt around pressure so easy on a bad knee against a very fast defense. Utah doesn't need this game for its season to be good. But Florida has a ton to gain from a victory. Just another reason not to play Cam because this is a Lose, Lose situation for Utah sincethe Utes are supposed to win the game. I don't think Cam plays and a couple late TD runs by Florida breaks this thing open in the 4th. Florida wins going away.

Utah got beat by Florida last year because of their talented players (with no identity nor chemistry)…...now with a second year head coach and with better talent, Utah is not going to be able to keep up. I expect Florida to force a turnover early and take momentum in this football game. Utah is going to struggle on offense. Mertz has 30 collegiate starts under his belt. Whoever is playing on Thursday night is coming off an ACL injury ( 8 months ) or correct me if l'm wrong, someone who has 1 start under center. Florida flys to the ball. Utah will be pushed around 

Florida has everything to gain with a win.

Utahs strength is the defensive line, but I saw Florida be able to run all over them in the Swamp. They're an SEC school so Utah atmosphere should not affect them all that much. You are getting experience with this Utah football team. With Florida you have a better talented team, who's going for the win, and nothing but the win. When Florida is the underdog, except the Gators to be HUNGRY ?? 

Mertz is horrendous. This game is a pass for me. But I wouldn't want my money on the line to find out if Mertz can win a road game at a venue (Salt Lake City) that has proven to be very formidable in the past.

The total has gone down a lot, but I still lean the under. I think it's going to be ground game warfare. Also lean Florida. I just wish I had bought this line back in July.

 I agree, facing a new arm with no film can be tough on the secondary not having their reads, but in the first game of the season it will not come down to the arm of the utes. This game is going to be won in the trench, not on the back of any QB arm. Florida wins the trenches up front on paper. Can they be able to execute the gameplan? That’s the question 

After more research, gators might be up for the task here.

 Thank you, I’m not sure where people are getting this “mertz is horrendous” take from. He’s 19-3 as a starter in big 10 play, and will have much better playmakers to surround him than what was at Wisconsin. He’s a game manager, and that’s all youre asking for in this type of football game. He is going on his 4th year as a starter. Thats nothing but naysayers who don’t know the X&Os

Sure, if you put Mertz into a spread style offense, and ask him to read the coverage instead of predetermining his spots like he does predominantly. Then, you can argue Mertz is a horrendous Qb in that system of play, but with Florida it’s the opposite. You simply need him to move the chains in dink & dump type situations on 3rd & shorts. The RPO reads might be a bit fast for him, but I feel much more confident in the Florida Qb than the Utes 

Utah has a true freshman starting at LT, a Qb coming off an ACL injury, their top TE coming off a major injury. Where are they going to muster up enough points here to win the football game if a backup plays in his first start against a SEC defense? (speed)

It's because Mertz is a turnover machine. Other than his first start against a weak Illinois team in the Covid year, he was pretty much awful.

 The line drop was expected. Grabbing the -6.5 was the chump soup special. With the ML now @ +160 anything florida was sharp 

Like I said before, Kyle Whittingham would be crazy to start Cam Rising in this football game. They have a chance to win three pac 12 titles in a row now, before the exodus. Having him take the risk of rising getting hurt in a week one Florida game wouldn’t make sense. The Utes have bigger things to play for (X3) 

This is a test for the utes who are more banged up than one would suspect. KW was asked another position of concern outside of qb and it was, DLINE… Utah has some guys banged up coming out fall camp 

Like the write ups and opinions guys, I don't follow college close enough to have a winner and why etc. but enjoy reading on the forums picks with a write up for why so thanks for that    My guess is Florida loses but covers the spread

 Thank you, you don’t have to know every player in college football to be able to cap picks. Simply, watch the press after practice of each coaches mindset going into that weekend. Get a feel for the confidence level

 Those trenches are going to be 4700ft high and 3 time zones over. Something no Gator has seen in their career. Florida has not played a true road game out of their footprint in 20+ years. Utah was affected by the heat and humidity in Gainesville. Florida is going to be affected by the elevation and distance traveled...
