The Big 10 has won 42% of their bowl games the last 5 years, 28% winning percentage in bowls games decided by 14 or more.

The Big 10 has won 39% of their bowl games the last 10 years, 23% winning percentage in bowl games decided by 14 or more.

Those numbers are more than just a small trend, it's reality. You can tell me previous years shouldn't matter, but what else do we have to go by?  Schedules are made years in advance.  Most teams will play 1 big out of conference game in September and then another in a bowl game.  The Big 10 has been over rated for a decade.  They are basically a 1 team conference (Ohio State).  It's just crazy for me to hear that OSU deserved that 4th spot because of all their great conference wins.  I agree that Bama's schedule wasn't great, but to me that FSU win was a really good win.  There just aren't enough games played in college football to ever have a clear picture at the end of the regular season.  A lot of years 1 team or conference is going to get the benefit of the doubt over another.  It's easy for me to give bama(sec) the benefit of the doubt over osu(big 10).

Again... I don't know how anyone can clearly say that Bama was the clear choice over Ohio st.... we don't know that answer. What happened last time the 2 squared off??? Ohio WAS the underdog and Ohio st woodshedded them....

I think we all get caught up sometimes in assuming we know the answers.... We don't...

I've never said Ohio st was a better team.... My whole argument has been about why do we " grant " " assume " " anoint "  Alabama....We do this cause of their pass success yes...... and I agree that teams like Alabama and Clemson gets the nod more times then not in most cases....

But this is what we're missing here that i'm trying to explain to everyone.... You SHOULD EARN your right at the table...

It's not about whether Clemson would have blown the doors off Ohio st.... It's a bout BELONGING..... Belonging is a big part of what you EARNED.... Think about that

I really believe Auburn is one of the 4 best but they have 3 losses and lost their last game badly so I can see why they aren't in

take Auburn out and you have to put

    Clem, OU, UGA, Bama

Ohio St couldn't beat any of those 4, OU smashed them already, Clem dismantled them in the playoff last year, Iowa beat them by 175 points, I don't see the argument for Ohio St personally

who cares if  you win the Big10, those teams suck this year

USC won the pac12 and nobody is arguing for them, how is their schedule not better than Ohio St? or at least as good?

no way USC or Ohio ST is better than Bama so put Bama in and lets see who wins

Clemson can stop the Bama storyline fast, they have the chance, lets see if they can do it

    Agree about Auburn...

Let me pose this question to everyone and I want everyone to really think about it...

Let's say Ohio st lost only to Michigan and had went 11-1 and missed a chance to play in the big10 Championship Game...

Alabama went 10-2 and lost to Auburn....and for some reason they got beat by 30 points to Florida in the regular season ( I just using Florida as an example )......

then Bama went on to win the SEC title game

Would we even have this conversation in reverse?

Would the " pundits at EsecPN " even allow a topic about how a SEC Champion NOT MAKING the playoff even with 2 losses and 1 by 30 points???

    you all know the answer.

Boom, once again you prove that you're a joke.  'Bama didn't deserve to make it?  'Bama just made your beloved Tigers look like they had no business being in the CFBP.  I love how condascending you are, yet time and time again show that you don't have any idea what you're talking about.  Please just make good on your word from a number of years ago when you promised to go and stay away if both of your beloved ACC teams lost, and they did.

Oh yeah, and how about all the SEC is overrated junk?  Remind me what conference is rep'd in the Bowl Champ game.

I'll give my perspective on the CFB playoff - that's all it is, one passionate fan's perspective.

First, I support having a Committee to make the selection of who enters the playoff - over some kind of formula.  The whole knock on the DI national championship thru the years has been the likelihood that in many years the best football team wasn't even afforded the opportunity to earn it on the field.  Whether thru the bowl system or the dreaded BCS, too often the consensus of those who care about the sport felt the best team was left out of the title game.

So we created a Committee and a 4 team playoff to try to ensure that does not occur.  Now we can argue, with the parity in CFB today, that 4 teams is not enough.  I happen to believe that - I have always thought, from Day 1, that the playoff should be 8 teams. But thankfully we don't argue about the benefit of having a playoff; and hopefully we don't argue too much about making sure the best team actually participates in that playoff.

Now, assuming it gets to 8 teams in the near future, do we not believe we can assemble a committee representing the best football minds in the country to come to agreement on which are the top 8 football teams to participate in the playoff?  And, if so, can we not assume that such a committee, in its collective wisdom, will be able to include truly the best team within the 8 that it selects - every year?

I conclude the answer is yes.  I have been watching football for nearly 1/2 a century; I can honestly say there there has *never* in my lifetime, in my opinion, been a #9 team as ranked at the end of the season prior to the title game that was, truly, in my or anyone's (other than most biased home fans) opinion the truly best team in the country.  Not even close.  you could argue certainly no's 2, 3, 4, even 5, but never 9.

So we should go to 8 - and tell the Committee to simply pick the top 8 best teams at the end of the year in its judgment.  Trust me, the best team will be within that group.  And, thus, the playoff will have achieved its ultimate goal - making sure the best team has the opportunity to win it on the field and not be left out like it often was in bowl system or BCS.

As for this year, even with 4 teams, I think the Committee got it right. Alabama is certainly a better team than Ohio St., or UCF, and deserved to go.  So is UGA, so is Clemson, so is OU.  I can see why buckeye fans are upset, and I wish the playoff allowed for 8 teams, but the Committee picked the best team to participate as Bama is abundantly showing in this playoff.  Let us hope it grows to 8 teams.

Thank you for your thoughts; I have a fine life thank you.  There is history here in regards to Boom's "take" and treatment of those who disagree w/him, and 'Bama fans in particular.

He certainly came after me after I said Bama would beat Clemson because they were more motivated for revenge.  Calling it joke reasoning, an example of a post of why this forum is bad.

That said thank god someone like him, I certainly don't want people agreeing with my picks.  Better if they hate 'em.
