I think where the game will be decided is 3rd down defense for both teams, especially Auburn's D. Their weakness on defense is their DBs, but their strength is their pass rush. Probably the best pass rush Bama has faced all year. The key for Auburn on defense is forcing 3rd and longs for the Bama offense, where Auburn knows that Bama has to pass. I don't believe they can do this the entire game. Dee Ford needs to have a big game for Auburn to have a chance at winning. On the flip side, the Auburn O has been able to move the ball down the field with an effective running game all year. This is mainly because Tre Mason is averaging almost 6 yards per carry on 1st Downs. If Bama is able to put Auburn in 3rd and long situations, it could be a long day for Auburn. I agree with Jimmy in that Auburn will most likely come out in the 1st Q throwing the ball. Bama will see some new sets/formations that could cause alignment problems early, but once the defense settles in I don't expect the Auburn O to be very effective.

Two players I think will have big games:

    Auburn: Dee Ford

    Alabama: OJ Howard

    Alabama 34

    Auburn 17

In 97 rushes in three games, that 67-yard rush stands alone as the only long rushing play against Alabama.  In others words, a long run has occurred on exactly 1% of all the running plays against Alabama's defense.  So as gamblers, are we going to put our money on the 1% probability or the 99% probability?

Furthermore, if we take away the outlier 67-yard run from the stats, Auburn rushed the ball 31 times for 84 yards, or 2.7 ypc.  As you can see from the rushing stats in the subsequent games, 2.7 ypc is much more consistent with what we can expect to see in Saturday's game.

For the Love of Gawd if Auburn's Qb could have just broke a 5.3 40 yd dash we win that game.Jimmy, I don't think anybody thinks Auburn is gonna have to drive the ball..Auburn is gonna move the ball and score 30 PTs IMo..This game will revolve around how Auburn s D holds up against that machine of an offense..We gonna score and score 30+ just don't know if we can keep them from scoring 50..28pts? Come on man! that's ridiculous.

    All very good points BUT
Alabama just gets up for this type of game,
Never played ball , don't keep track of my wins and losses.
Just seen BAMA do this year in and year out.
Personally don't think this game will b close mayb 1st half will b close but 2nd adjustments will b made and tide will roll.

Congrats on a great season WCE!!!  I hope the Alabama schools are playing in the Iron Bowl for the SEC West crown every year.  That's the way it should be.

I understand and respect your position.  I think we have similar thoughts on Alabama's offense versus Auburn's defense.  I think Alabama gets into the 40s, or very close to it.

Where we differ is on Auburn's offense versus Alabama's defense.  I think Alabama's defense will dominate that match-up.  I honestly don't think Auburn has a snowflake's chance in hell of scoring 20 points, much less 30.  As I have said, while I don't think this will be a shutout, I do think it has shutout potential.

You have been outclassed, Spartacus10, it's up there in the first three pages of this thread for all to see.

Not only because the statistics I provided were extremely relevant to the topic at hand, but because I actually provided them, unlike you.  In addition, also because you said it was, and this is a direct quote, "virtually impossible for Auburn to be competitive" in this game; that Auburn would not be able to run on Bama; that Auburn would therefor be forced to throw and, as a one-dimensional team would have chance to win, and, in addition, claiming to give facts to support your position when in fact you gave no facts, only opinions that you (mis)labeled as fact.

What do you have to say about your facts, opinion, and whether or not you were outclassed in this thread now, Spartacus10?

Im not an Alabama hater, Im college football fan. I dont think they get thru the next two games or first one to Auburn. If they do beat Auburn and Missouri or South Carolina they they deserve the shot at the National Championship.

They dont deserve anything at this point in the year.

Florida State is putting up video game scores.

    Missouri is handling teams

Auburn is running the ball 90% of the time and dominating.

Auburn wins lower scoring game. They get the stops on 3rd down, they win the special teams battle.

    Auburn 24 Alabama 23

Unfortunately Abizzo I dont have you give "YOU" any x's and o's. Ive been telling you to bet Auburn the last 4 weeks and you have been talking about fading them the last 4 weeks.

College football isnt all about "x's and o's"  Thats what guys that dont understand it say.

College football is about emotions, home field, revenge, and great coaches.

Do I need to put a collage together of your last 4 weeks talking about fading Auburn??

Did u study your x's o's coloring book for homework!!

at least give us some logic that makes sense.  Auburn has played basically the same schedule as Bama so your one point is weak.

what a waste of a write up and anyone's time reading it.
