as an sec guy, i'm not crazy about expansion. hell, if it broke, don't fix it, right? but it looks like its going to happen, so i'm ok with adding a&m to the west. in order to balance things out on the eastern side, you'd have to bring in clemson. living in the heart of sec country, i know a lot of clemson guys, and its way more of an sec school than an acc school. just walk around campus and you'll figure that out. those people fit in more with tenn, uga and auburn than boston college, virginia and miami.

All about the money with choosing A&M. Clemson and FSU on the other hand makes perfect sense geographicly, and already have rivalries in place with Gamecocks and Gators. This move would benefit A&M much more than it would the SEC, with SEC game already televised nationally on CBS.

My guess would be that they're more likely looking for a 16th as opposed to a 14th. TAMU, Tiger High and FSU all to SEC, along with somebody else. Just a guess.

Should be a done deal by the 22nd when the board of regents meets. The 14th team wil not enter the SEC until the 2013 team season, whoever that may be. The 14th team will go to the East.

if/when this happens...it will trigger a feeding frenzy....the 4 sixteen team super conferences will eventually happen.....although I hate change like some of you boys...it will grow on us in a hurry as the week to week competition will be greatly improved...

For everyone saying that Clemson is a great cultural fit, I agree. But I also don't think they deliver much (no offense, Boom). The SEC already has a large TV presence in the state by having Carolina in the conference. Florida State might have a bit more of a national following, but they suffer from the same problem.
I'd go with Virginia Tech or North Carolina State to get schools that are both culturally SEC-ish and expand into markets that the conference doesn't already hold. Living in Raleigh and wanting the SEC Network on TV, the latter is my selfish choice, but objectively, I think they should be #2 behind Virginia Tech. Sure, Clemson and Florida State are better teams. But the SEC doesn't need the best teams right now. They have some really good teams already, and you may recall that the '92 expansion wasn't expansion by adding to the top (see: South Carolina's football history). The only thing they could hope to gain in expansion is more media markets, which I don't see Clemson delivering.

I know Delaney's been saying if they do expand again, he wants to go down South.. reports are potentially Florida if FSU goes to the SEC, but highly doubt that will happen.

You obviously have never been to Clemson on Gameday. There are very few schools including the SEC that compares to the game day Atmosphere that Clemson has. Clemson is by far exactly what the SEC needs.... 1) a place where football is everything 2) a place where facilities and players are among the best 3 ) a place where money can be made.
Clemson fits anywhere............But the ACC

VT is out per their AD. I believe they are trying to save face and be the ones that are doing the rejecting. Don't think they will come out and say anything until/if they are officially asked.

Boom, we didn't just disagree on anything (except NC State, but if you want the Raleigh market, they're at least the least non-SEC-ish choice. And I live in Raleigh, so I want the SEC in the Raleigh market). Clemson is a perfect fit with their culture, atmosphere, traditions, all of that stuff. But I don't think that's what the SEC is looking for. The SEC is looking for expanded media footprint. At least I think this is what they're looking for. And if it is, I don't see how Clemson delivers it.

If UH does go to the Big 12, I think they will struggle. They just don't have the resources or facilities to keep up with most of the other schools. If they can get the money to upgrade their facilities then perhaps they could be competitive.
UH was just granted Tier 1 University status, the only other 3 schools in Texas that have this are UT,A&M, and TT. This means more public funding. UH is also breaking ground on a new stadium in 2012. Also to say it'd be tough for us to compete in the Big 12 thats laughable. We dont seem to have any problems w/ Okie St or TxTech. The only 2 teams that will actually schedule UH.
