Touts are viewed in a very negative light by many sports bettors, since a tout who could regularly pick winning teams could make a considerable amount of money by simply betting those team, rather than selling those picks to the public.

Professional handicappers may have more of a case if they have legally protected their names and then others are using their name in selling their own products.

The best you can do is contact the site posting your picks and ask them to refrain from doing it or maybe you can even ask someone at the Covers' staff to contact them also.

As far as people privately selling your picks, there is very little recourse and trust me, there is no legal action a person here is going to be able to take. Do people here really think seeking a TRO or injunction is worthwhile or even plausible? Please!

Best of luck UNC. Keep up the great work. Helping others is a nice thing and hopefully the value for that is greater than the hassles you will have to endure such as the issues discussed.

Great post and insight Game Hunter,  the information protection was the option I didn't know if there was a chance to somehow protect or not....

Doesn't Texas Tech - 3 have to be a lean now since Luca Staiger quit on ISU??? Tech may have dropped off from earlier in the year and lost at home to Mizzou recently but before that they were 10-0 at home and beat UTEP, Stanford, and UWash.

Sir... I am leaning strongly towards the OVER in Xav @ Temple?

Xavier shoots it very well, but their defensive athleticism is lacking IMO.

    Any thoughts on OVER 129.5?

agree -- although PITT has no business winning that game.  As you know, LOU was winning/convering for 39min and 59sec in that game

agree -- although PITT has no business winning that game.  As you know, LOU was winning/convering for 39min and 59sec in that game

also, and I am sure it means next to nothing coming from me, but....

Northern Illinois -4.5 is an utter lock tonight playing at Toledo.
I am a law student at U. Toledo, and I dont think the nation has a proper appreciation for just how bad the Toledo Rockets are....

They have lost 7 in a row, 5 in a row ATS, 0-3 in conference losing by a minimum of 11, and they are coming off a 28pt drumming at the hands of....you guessed it Ball St.

Playing this one heavy for sure.....

Always a class act GH, looking forward to baseball season buddy.  Pitchers and catchers in 4 weeks!

Many touts also advocate both sides of a game under two different names or services...this way they are never wrong...and can they guarantee themselves returning marks.

hey unc how about charlotte against richmond??i think 8 is too much

Why has UR played so many tight ones?

•Generally, Richmond's games are relatively low-scoring and, therefore, more likely to be close. Possessions take longer than usual for both teams because the Spiders play a match-up defense that forces opponents to probe for shots, and Richmond (68.2 ppg) rarely pushes tempo. •Scoring spurts that can make games one-sided are often the result of transition hoops or 3-point runs. UR allows few quick conversions -- 19 fast-break points in four league games -- and has held opponents to 29.5-percent shooting from 3-point distance. Why has UR won many of its close games, including résumé-builders over Mississippi State (63-62), Missouri (59-52) and Florida (56-53)?

Good direction by experienced players who hit clutch free throws. Each of Richmond's starters has been a regular for at least two seasons, and all but junior forward Justin Harper are threeor four-year starters.

"They make the right pass. They're wonderfully coached," La Salle coach John Giannini said after his Explorers fell at UR 67-63 last Saturday. "Because they're veteran, even the situation doesn't make them uncomfortable."

Most instrumental in late-game success have been ball-handlers Kevin Anderson and David Gonzalvez. Together, the guards have 201 games of college experience. They take most of UR's crunch-time free throws, and the Spiders have made 79.4 percent from the line in the last five minutes of wins.

Charlotte (2-1, 12-5) doesn't do close games, for the most part. The Niners have double-digit wins in nine of 12 victories and double-digit losses in four of five defeats. Each of the past four games involving UR and Charlotte was decided by seven or fewer points. The Spiders won them all.

Here's the plan UNC, regarding the people stealing your picks.

Problem: People trying to make money off your picks?

Solution: Give out EXTREMELY shitty picks for about...2 weeks.

UNC...I can ask my IP law professor when I get the chance (he is an expert in the field); although intellectual property protection gets a little tricky when it comes to the internet and cyber identity and its very hard to protect things that you are posting in a public forum. Even if there is a way to get an injunction or money damages on people who are selling your picks sometimes the hassle and costs of hunting down the person(s) is not worth it. Again, the big issue here is that it is a public forum and you are giving away your picks for free. I agree it is disrespectful but there will always be dirtbags out there. You are doing more good for honest people than you are for scumbags with your threads. I personally appreciate all of your threads because they are available to read all day long for those of us who work 7am-4pm then go to school from 530-9pm and only have a lunch break and limited other time to go through the games. You give a great starting point for research and often give insight that shows you know what you are doing. I think i speak for everyone on here when I say keep up the good work and thanks for your time and efforts!

I think the entire situation can be stopped with just some advertisement.  If the people that are paying someone else for UNC's picks are made aware that they are paying for free picks, they should stop paying.  Maybe they join this forum and start follow this thread.

If people flood that other site and spread the word, maybe you can hurt those selling your picks the best way, in their wallets.
