played for niagara in calvin murphy days. their homecourt is named after taps gallagher ,who was the ad when i was there.

Injuries shouldn't affect good teams playing weak teams,so don't know if that's the reason for the opening line or not.

Villanova has covered all but 1 game this year.  The last 3-4 games Vegas has set a line, the public has hammered it, it goes up 2 pts or so. Same story tonite, opened at 13.5, now 15.5.

St Joe's 1-4 and 1-4 ats

VILLA 8-0 and 6-1 ats for the year.

Public has no fear laying DD's with the #3 team in the country when they've been covering like crazy.

Great spot for toothless St Joe's to cover and make Vegas a bundle.

Note to bettors

SD is a different beast at home and always has been.

They're GREAT at HOME and SOFT as butter on the ROAD.

Let them take NM without hesitation,while SD backers have to face the fear when placing their bets.

Don't be shocked to see a SD outright win tonight.

Tonight is one of the most anticipated nights of the year. Everyone-students, faculty, alumni, and college basketball fans around the country-knows the intensity will increase when the Saint Joseph's men's basketball team squares off against archrival Villanova. 

The Hawks enter the game on a bit of a slide. St. Joe's has dropped four games in a row after opening the season 3-0, but all the losses came away from home. The last two games have been tough losses for the Hawks, who are still struggling to find a go-to guy when it comes down late in the games. 

Although St. Joe's is still working out the kinks, this team is more balanced than it has been in recent years, not relying on one or two players to do a bulk of the scoring but having six or eight players chip in their fair share.

They will need that balance, especially defensively, if they are going to compete with a team like Villanova. The greatest strength that Villanova, ranked No. 3 in the nation, has the ability to hit you from so many angles. In each of the past two games, against La Salle and Maryland, respectively, the Wildcats have had at least four double-digit scorers. 

It is easy to see that you do not become one of the top three teams in the county without talent. 'Nova's last recruiting class was one of the most heralded in the country, bringing in several McDonald's All- Americans, including Philadelphia's own Maalik Wayans (Roman Catholic). And that recruiting class fails to mention the addition of Taylor King, who sat out last year due to NCAA transfer rules after coming from Duke.

Villanova has a very complete team up and down the lineup, with senior leadership in Scottie Reynolds. They clearly have the young talent and are not afraid to utilize it, with freshmen like Maurice Sutton and Dominic Cheek getting the bulk of the minutes for the young guys. 

The Wildcats are rounded out with three juniors: the two Coreys, Fisher and Stokes, and Antonio Pena, all three of whom are in the starting lineup. Fisher and Stokes are outside threats while Pena is the most consistent threat the Wildcats have inside the paint. Believe it or not, after all this, the 8-0 Wildcats, who have not lost to an out-of-conference, unranked team in over 20 games, do have some weaknesses. They rely heavily on the long ball as the catalyst to their offense. It is not out of the norm for the Wildcats to put up nearly 40 threes a game, but they do have the capability to hit over 40 percent of them on any given night. Another weakness is the lack of an experienced big man. Armwood and Sutton have been getting significant time at forward, but Pena is the only solid experienced big man Villanova has on its roster. The Wildcats try to combat their lack of height by running four guard sets and keeping their players fresh throughout the game with efficient substitutions. 
If the Hawks are able to exploit the weaknesses of Villanova, they might be able to pull off the upset. It will be crucial for the Hawks to use their depth, if there is any team so far that the Wildcats have faced that can go as deep as them, it is the Hawks. From the guard spot all the way down to the center, St. Joe's matches up well with Villanova and if the Hawks can stress perimeter defense this game could be close.
This is the first game of the season in which the Hawks will travel to their "homecourt" from last year, The Palestra, for a regular-season game. Although they have gone down there to practice several times, "there is no anticipating the emotion once you get there," as St. Joe's head coach Phil Martelli puts it. It will be a unique experience for many of the young players and a memorable one for the seniors. 
It is also important to mention that Villanova has run through city foes to this point, manhandling Penn, and blowing out La Salle and Drexel. But the Hawks have yet to lose in the City of Brotherly Love this year. Regardless of how the teams have been doing in any given year, typically this game is a drag-it-out dogfight with the team with the most heart coming out victorious, and this year will most likely not be any different.

15.5 here in Vegas,not suprisingly public siding with #3 team in country that's on ESPN tonight only adding to the action.

CBB is my worst normally,that's why i'm trying to make an extra effort to improve.

With so many games on the board in CBB it's the only way they can try to hide bad numbers.

NHL is my favorite,but in the last 12 onths they've change the way they set lines leaning heavily toward favorites in all sports.

They would rather pay you 60% instead of blindly paying 100+%

JUICE PAYS the tide has turned in sports betting.Think it's because of the economy.

If bettors win more often,they'll bet more often leading to parlays and excessive action.

Bettors are winning more but winning less if you know what i mean.

But football and hoops are -110. Do you mean the 60% in regards to mlb and nhl, b/c the odds vary?
