How do you score an Oscars ballot?

Scoring for an Oscars pool is simple. Every correct choice is equal to a point. Whoever has the most correct answers at the end of the night wins! Of course, house rules can apply, so if you want to weigh certain categories more significantly than others, no one is going to stop you.

When should I make my Oscars picks?

For the purposes of the ballot, since no betting odds are attached, you don't need to weigh market fluctuation. Simply ensure that they're made before the telecast begins on Oscar night.

What happens if there is a tie in our Oscars pool?

There is no single way to break a tie in an Oscars pool. It is generally left up to the organizer, but you do have some options.

  • Starting with Best Picture, work backward to see where the parties differed. If one of the winners correctly predicted Best Picture and the other didn't, the competition is over. Otherwise, move onto Best Director, Best Actor, and so on.
  • Have a pre-determined tiebreaker like "predict the total time of the Oscars" or "when will the In Memoriam take place."
  • Split the winnings! Who says there can only be one winner?

Altogether, you decide your house rules in the event of a tie.

Can you bet on the Oscars?

Yes, betting on the Oscars has become extremely popular over the years, and many online and in-person sportsbooks offer odds and markets for the Academy Awards.

You can place bets on various categories such as Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Actress, and more at a variety of Oscars betting sites. However, the availability of Oscars betting markets depends on the regulations and laws in your specific jurisdiction.

In addition to sportsbooks, prediction markets like Kalshi also offer an opportunity to put your prognostication skills to the test.

Make sure to choose a licensed and regulated platform to ensure a safe and secure betting experience. Keep in mind that betting on award shows is primarily for entertainment purposes, and it's essential to gamble responsibly.

How can I watch or stream the 2026 Oscars?

The 98th Academy Awards will be broadcast live from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on ABC at 7:00 p.m. ET on Sunday, March 15. Cord-cutters can livestream the event on Hulu, abc.com, or the ABC mobile app. If you're in Canada, the ceremony is live on CTV or streaming on Crave.
