Motivation will be on the Calgary Stampeders’ side on Friday as they head to Commonwealth Stadium to face the bottom-feeding Edmonton Elks.

Calgary needs a win to keep its hopes for a home playoff date alive, while Edmonton has little at stake in this Week 21 finale. As a result, my Stampeders vs. Elks predictions expect the road team to cover in the Battle of Alberta.

Here are my CFL picks for October 24, with kickoff set for 9:30 p.m. ET on TSN.

Stampeders vs Elks prediction

My Stampeders vs Elks pick: Stampeders -5.5 (-110 at BET99)

The 10-7 Calgary Stampeders entered the season with fairly low expectations, but the Stamps now have a chance to host a postseason game with a win and a BC Lions loss on Saturday.

Calgary will be putting its foot down on the throttle throughout the entirety of Friday's contest, facing an Edmonton Elks team that has been eliminated from postseason contention following last week's 37-24 defeat to BC.

Elks quarterback Cody Fajardo unraveled in that road matchup, completing just 55.9% of his passes and throwing three interceptions. The Elks’ regular-season finale holds no stakes, as their 7-10 record has them locked into the West Division basement for the fourth time in the last five seasons.

QB Vernon Adams Jr. should lead an aerial assault against an Elks defence that ranks dead last in opponent passing yards per game (297.1). The Stamps will also pound the rock with running back Dedrick Mills, who's averaging 5.8 yards per carry and is set to run away with the league rushing title.

Edmonton WR1 Kurleigh Gittens Jr. has been ruled out for Friday night with a head injury after taking a hard hit from Robert Carter Jr. during the Elks’ latest loss. Gittens led the team with 96 receiving yards on 12 targets before exiting in the fourth quarter.

Points will be few and far between for Edmonton, facing a Stamps defence that trails only Saskatchewan in points allowed per game. Calgary will win by double digits at Commonwealth.

Stampeders vs Elks same-game parlay (SGP)

Stampeders -5.5

Stampeders team total Over 29.5

Three of Calgary’s last four wins have seen the Stamps eclipse 29.5 points, including their last two games in October, blowing out Toronto 44-13 last Saturday and prevailing over Hamilton 37-20 in Week 19.

Edmonton is surrendering a league-worst 390.4 yards of net offence per game, so Calgary's scoring unit will push the pace from the jump.
