As Ben Kramer details below, the wrong team is favored on Friday night.

The Toronto Argonauts will be 2.5-point favorites when they face the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in their fifth road game to open the 2026 season.

Winnipeg lost quarterback Zach Collaros to a neck injury against Hamilton last Sunday, with the recently acquired Dru Brown set to make his second stint with the club after spending two years in Ottawa.

Teams forced to turn to their backup quarterback are usually easy fades in the CFL odds, but I expect the Bombers offence to excel with Brown under center.

I’ll break it all down in my Argonauts vs. Blue Bombers predictions and CFL picks for Friday, July 10.

Who will win Argonauts vs Blue Bombers: Blue Bombers (+124)

The Toronto Argonauts are off to a surprisingly strong start at 2-2 despite opening the season with four straight road games, but they now face a Winnipeg Blue Bombers team that is 36-9 at home since 2021.

Losing a starting quarterback to injury is usually a death sentence for an offence, but Dru Brown isn’t just another journeyman. He spent three years with the Bombers as their backup from 2021 to 2023 and has two years of experience with current OC Tommy Condell, who coached him in Ottawa.

Brown owns a career 8.8 yards per attempt average in the CFL, which is half a yard better than the Bombers have averaged with Collaros this season, giving Winnipeg’s aerial attack some additional upside.

Meanwhile, Toronto’s defence has failed to slow down opposing quarterbacks, allowing a league-high 10.1 yards per attempt and 11 passing touchdowns this season.

The Winnipeg scoring unit shouldn’t miss a beat with Brown at the helm, and I’d bet them on the moneyline to +110.

Argonauts vs Blue Bombers best bet: Blue Bombers +2.5 (-108)

Given that books are willing to spot me a 2.5-point cushion, I'm happy to take that versus an Argonauts offence that has averaged the second-most points per game this season (37.5).

Winnipeg's team total has been dragged down in part by its paltry offensive showing in Week 5, when rookie quarterback Taylor Elgersma relieved the injured Zach Collaros and the Bombers managed just 14 points and 224 total yards. Led by Brown, the home team should find a second wind in Week 6.

Covers COVERS INTEL: Winnipeg has allowed just 258.3 pass yards per game in 2026, the best mark in the CFL.

Argonauts vs Blue Bombers same-game parlay

The Dru Brown-led Tommy Condell offence in Ottawa averaged 24.9 points per game in 2025 with Brown as the starting quarterback.

With the increased pace of play in 2026 due to changes to the play clock between snaps, the Bombers should be able to keep pace with the Argos, whose defence is allowing a league-high 38.25 points per game.

I'm glad to take the cushion from the spread paired with the Over 60.5 total — I'd go as high as 62.5 — and ride it to a +260 SGP payout.

His first taste of the action came around age eight while helping his dad try to win his office NHL auction draft. By the time he was in high school, he was running a profitable weekly NFL pool while taking bets from both staff and students at his school. His awards in vocal jazz and competitive physics exams gave him numerous career paths to pursue following high school, so the obvious choices were degrees in philosophy and New Testament theology at Briercrest College and Seminary.

His big opportunity to step into the sports content provider world opened up when DraftKings began offering CFL contests in 2016 and he was the only person in the world who knew what both DFS and the CFL were.
