While Zach Collaros is back for the Blue Bombers, the veteran QB is going to have a tough time scoring against an Elks team that's the best against the spread at home thanks to its defense.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers look to build on Zach Collaros' return to the lineup when they take on the Edmonton Elks on Friday at 9:30 p.m. ET (TSN) from Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton, AB.

With the best record in the West (7-3), the CFL odds have Edmonton as a 4.5-point betting favorite, and my Blue Bombers vs. Elks predictions and CFL picks are fading Winnipeg against this defense.

Who will win Blue Bombers vs Elks: Elks -4.5 (-110)

The last time these teams played, the Edmonton Elks went into Princess Auto Stadium and beat the Winnipeg Blue Bombers by five. It was proof Edmonton deserved to be among the Grey Cup odds favorites, and the Elks haven't looked back since.

The Elks have been an ATS machine this season (8-2) and are an unstoppable force at home, where they're 5-0 ATS the spread and outscoring opponents by an average of 11.2 points.

This is also just Zach Collaros' second game back since missing nearly two months with a neck injury. And while he fared well in his return last week, it came against the 0-9 Ottawa Redblacks. The last time he played a quality team was against this Edmonton squad, which held his offense to 18 points.

While the Elks are the clear play here, I wouldn't take them to cover a spread larger than -5.5.

Blue Bombers vs Elks total prediction: Under 58.5 (-110)

Edmonton is the scariest team in the West because of its defense. The Elks allow a league-low 26 PPG, and in three of their last four home games, they've given up 17 points or fewer.

The Blue Bombers' offense has been shaky throughout the season, even with Collaros in the lineup. Winnipeg is putting up the third-fewest PPG (26.3) and yards per game (349.2) this season, and it doesn't help that All-Star running back Brady Oliveira is banged up.

Although Winnipeg's defense is pedestrian, its offense has helped it hit the Under in four of five games that the Bombers have played in with a game total of 54+ points.

However, the Under is only worth considering if it stays above 57.5.

Covers COVERS INTEL: The Elks are the only team in the league averaging 30+ points and 410+ yards on offense while allowing fewer than 27 points and 375 yards on defense.

Blue Bombers vs Elks same-game parlay

The last time the Elks and Bombers played, Edmonton's defense carried it to a win, cover, and Under. It should be able to do it again, especially at home, where Mark Kilam's team is allowing just 18.5 PPG and scoring 31.2 PPG over its last four.

In the three games this season where Edmonton has been favored at home, it's 3-0 ATS and has hit the Under each time.
