Riding a CFL modern-era record 15-game losing streak, the Redblacks will be in trouble on the road against a powerhouse Alouettes squad.

The Ottawa Redblacks look to win their first game of the season when they head to Percival Molson Memorial Stadium in Montreal on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. ET (TSN) to take on the Montreal Alouettes.

The CFL odds have Montreal as a 12.5-point betting favorite against 0-9 Ottawa, and my Redblacks vs. Alouettes predictions and CFL picks project Davis Alexander's offense to light up the visitors from Canada's capital on Aug. 20.

Who will win Redblacks vs Alouettes: Alouettes -12.5 (-112)

One team sits atop the Grey Cup odds; the other hasn't won a football game since Sept. 5, 2025. It's been nearly a full calendar year since the Ottawa Redblacks won a game, and it only seems to be getting worse for Ryan Dinwiddie's team.

Though they weren't winning games earlier in the season, the Redblacks managed to cover the spread in two of their first four. Since then, they're 1-4 ATS and have lost by an average of 18.3 PPG, which includes a 21-point loss at home to the Montreal Alouettes.

The Alouettes should have no trouble handing Ottawa another blowout loss. Montreal is the only team in the Eastern Conference that's Top 3 in points per game (35.7) and points allowed (27.4)... Ottawa is last in both.

Given the Redblacks' struggles, I'd bet the Alouettes to cover any spread smaller than two touchdowns.

Redblacks vs Alouettes total prediction: Over 61.5 (-120)

With an offense that's putting up the most yards per game (455.7) and second-most ppg (35.7) in the CFL, the Alouettes have hit the Over in seven of nine games this season.

In five home games, Montreal and its opponent average 66.6 combined points and have hit the Over four times.

The last time these two played in Montreal, they combined for 72 points. And while I don't expect Ottawa to put up 35 again, I do think Montreal can approach 40 against the Redblacks' defense.

In Ottawa's last five games, it's given up 37 ppg, and all five opponents have scored at least 33 points. Firing defensive coordinator Will Fields didn't fix anything, either. Ottawa has allowed 37.5 ppg since letting him go.

As long as the game total sits below 64.5 points, the Over is worth considering.

Covers COVERS INTEL: Montreal is 11-2 ATS in its last 13 meetings with Ottawa.

Redblacks vs Alouettes same-game parlay

Montreal has had Ottawa's number for years, and the Redblacks haven't been worse at any point in their history than they are right now. With a 16th straight loss on the line, it's hard to imagine Ottawa showing much life against a Montreal team that's the best in the CFL.

If the Redblacks show any life at all, it won't be on defense. Ottawa's defense is on pace to allow 644 points this season, the seventh-most in CFL history. On offense, they've scored at least 20 points in seven of nine, and 20 points could be enough for this Over to hit.
