Former minimumweight champion Yokasta Valle continues her climb back to title contention, and she'll have her hands full against once-beaten Yadira Bustillos on the Jake Paul vs. Anthony Joshua undercard on December 19.

Valle is a -1400 favorite while Bustillos is a +700 underdog. My Valle vs. Bustillos predictions back the favorite to win in Miami.

Valle vs Bustillos prediction and pick

Fight analysis
Yokasta Valle is the definition of consistency. A 36-fight veteran and former unified champion, she is as complete a fighter as there is in women’s boxing.

Valle has made a career out of outworking and outsmarting opponents, using her movement and activity to rack up rounds while minimizing damage. Her cardio is elite, and her discipline in the pocket is textbook.

Bustillos, meanwhile, is talented and willing, but lacks the precision or defensive awareness needed to dethrone someone as experienced as Valle.

She’s at her best when she can pressure and get into mid-range exchanges, and she’ll need to rely on that aggression in hopes of preventing Valle from getting into a rhythm.

Bustillos can’t rely on staying in the pocket too long with Valle, who will be too big and strong for her to fight in close quarters.

Valle tends to make things harder than they have to be with her reckless style, and it wouldn’t be a shock that the early rounds might be competitive simply because she will give Bustillos too much respect.

However, Valle just came up nearly three weight classes to bully and beat Marlen Esparza in her last fight, and Bustillos won’t have the physical weapons or experience that ultimately failed Esparza.

Eventually, Valle’s superior fundamentals and better ring IQ will shine through.

Best best analysis
I don’t see Valle doing enough damage to warrant a stoppage. Bustillos could be competitive early on, but will eventually get outfought and beaten up on the inside the longer the fight goes.

My best bet is that Valle takes control of the fight after splitting the first four rounds and winning a decision.
