Tyson Fury gave retirement a try, and 15 months in, he’s back and ready for another shot at a major fight. Fury will have to be on point as Arslanbek Makhmudov aims to spoil Fury’s return party and score an upset for the ages.

Fury is the favorite in the boxing odds at -600, while Makhmudov is a +400 underdog.

My Fury vs. Makhmudov predictions and free betting picks are calling for a little delayed gratification for the betting favorite on Saturday, April 11.

Fury vs Makhmudov prediction and pick

Fight analysis
Tyson Fury is coming off back-to-back losses to Oleksandr Usyk and a brief retirement. Still, Fury remains one of the best heavyweights in the division unless proven otherwise, and Russian contender Arslanbek Makhmudov’s heavy hands likely won’t change people’s opinion of the matter.

Makhumudov is a physical marvel, and 19 of his 21 wins have come by knockout, but he’s technically limited and has a low damage threshold. Both of his losses have come by knockout in fights he was a significant favorite in.

If any fight is designed to make Fury look sharp and presentable for a potential mega fight with regional rival Anthony Joshua, it’s this one. Fury shouldn’t have any trouble finding a home for his thudding jab, and Makmudov’s slowness will give Fury some rounds to use his footwork and inside fighting.

Makhmudov can make things interesting early on, but if Fury is ready, this will be his fight to lose.

Best best analysis
Fury’s faster hands and considerable power will quickly make their mark on Makhmudov, whose window of opportunity is reliant on catching Fury with a huge shot.

Fury isn’t one to start quickly, and there should be a few rounds of Fury shaking off the rust and gauging Makhmudov’s resolve.

Once Fury is comfortable, he’ll double up on the jab, and a right hand will come behind it, piercing his opponent’s nominal defense.

As Fury’s shots begin to welt Makhmudov’s face, and Fury usually does his best work in the middle of the fight when he’s warmed up, it’s hard to imagine the fight going the distance.

Covers COVERS INTEL: Since returning to full-time competition in 2018, Fury’s fights have lasted an average of 8.4 rounds.
