Moon alternatives update: What's new this week
The most useful updates are the ones that change why I would choose another app over Moon. Here’s what I’m watching:
- Polymarket adds a more social experience: Its September 8 launch of Squads introduced private groups where friends can chat, share positions and Combos, and trade from shared picks. Each member still uses their own account, making this a shared conversation rather than a shared bankroll.
- ProphetX expands beyond its sports roots: ProphetX’s September 18 release notes list the addition of political markets. That gives me another reason to compare its event contracts with Moon rather than describing ProphetX as strictly sports-only. ProphetX APIs
- Novig’s fee structure deserves a closer look: Novig currently lists no trading fees on pregame straight trades, while live trades, certain futures, and parlays can carry taker fees. I see that as a specific sports-trading advantage—not a reason to call every Novig trade free.
My takeaway: I’m comparing more than market selection. Social features, execution, and the way fees are charged can make an alternative worthwhile even before I consider its welcome offer.
Best apps like Moon by category
I wouldn’t choose the same Moon alternative for an NFL game, an election result, and a Bitcoin price prediction. These are my starting points based on the experience I’m looking for. Compare the best prediction market promos with these breakdowns to find the best apps like Moon:
Top prediction market platforms
- Kalshi - Best Moon alternative overall
- Polymarket - Best for social prediction trading
- Novig - Best for sports-first prediction trading
- ProphetX - Best for exchange-style trading
- Underdog - Best for streamlined prediction trading
- FanDuel Predicts - Best for beginners
- Gemini - Best for fee-conscious trading
- OG.com - Best for advanced trading tools
- Plus500 - Best for low-cost trading
- Crypto.com - Best Moon alternative for crypto
What is Moon?
Moon has become one of the best prediction market apps I've tested, as an asset-price wagering platform where eligible users choose whether a supported market will move Up or Down. Its interface combines a wager amount, leverage, live position tracking, and optional automatic profit or loss closing settings.
The important distinction is what I’m backing. Moon references asset prices; I’m not buying the underlying Bitcoin or stock, and I’m not buying a contract on a football result or election winner. Moon’s terms also identify the house as the counterparty to each wager, rather than describing a peer-to-peer event exchange.
Moon currently works through a browser, including a mobile web experience that can be added to a phone’s home screen. It does not offer a native app download. My Moon promo code guide takes a closer look at its features and current promotion.
For a closer look at the key features, eligibility, and the current welcome bonus, check out our Moon promo code page.
Moon vs other prediction apps
I don’t need a Moon alternative to copy its interface. I need it to offer something that better matches the prediction I want to make.
Moon isn’t a traditional prediction market
Moon looks like a prediction platform, but it works differently from Kalshi, Polymarket, Novig, and other event-contract exchanges. Instead of buying Yes or No contracts on sports, elections, or other outcomes, I wager on whether an asset’s price will move Up or Down, with Moon acting as the counterparty.
That distinction matters when I compare apps like Moon. Moon’s leverage, live P/L, and Auto Profit/Loss tools make it closer to an asset-price wagering experience, while most Moon alternatives let me trade defined real-world events.
Where Moon stands out
- An asset-first experience: Moon puts price direction at the center of the wager. That is a different starting point from browsing individual questions with separate deadlines and settlement rules.
- Position-management controls: Leverage selection and automatic profit or loss closing settings give eligible users ways to configure a wager before opening it. Those controls require care; they don’t remove the underlying risk.
- A more useful view of open-position value: Moon says its displayed profit and loss incorporates estimated closing execution and applicable performance fees. I still treat that as an estimate because the final result can change before execution.
Where to look for a Moon alternative?
- For sports: I’d start with Novig or ProphetX when my opinion is about a game rather than a financial asset. Novig’s sports menu includes game lines, player markets, and futures.
- For politics and economic outcomes: Kalshi and Polymarket US are more relevant when I want to trade an election or policy decision directly, not guess how Bitcoin might react to it.
- For a simpler introduction: FanDuel Predicts and Underdog are the first interfaces I’d compare when straightforward event selection matters more to me than configuring a leveraged position. Their available products depend on eligibility and location.
What markets do Moon alternatives offer?
Moon’s current asset-price focus leaves a gap for people who want to predict events themselves. A company’s stock reacting to an announcement is not the same market as whether that announcement happens.
These are the main categories I would look elsewhere to explore.

Compare top Moon alternatives at a glance
I’ve kept Moon as the reference point in this table. The useful question isn’t simply which platform offers more, but whether I want to stick with Moon’s asset-price focus or switch to broader sports, politics, and event markets.

What's better than Moon?
Kalshi is my best Moon alternative overall, but the answer changes with the job. For a broad event watchlist, I’d start with Kalshi. For a sports-first experience, I’d compare Novig and ProphetX. For social trading, Polymarket gets my attention.
However, I wouldn’t call a standard event contract a direct replacement for a leveraged asset-price wager. My preferred alternative is the one that improves the experience I want, not simply the one with the longest feature list.
Kalshi - Best overall Moon alternative
Kalshi is my first choice when Moon’s asset focus feels too narrow. Its market menu spans sports, politics, economics, crypto, climate, and culture, so I can move between very different predictions without treating every headline as a potential asset-price catalyst.
The financial markets also provide a useful point of comparison. I can still follow familiar subjects such as Bitcoin, but I need to think in terms of a specific question, price threshold, and deadline rather than simply choosing a direction.
What makes Kalshi my overall pick is that flexibility. I’d choose it over Moon when I want the subject of my prediction, not the availability of a corresponding asse, to determine what I can trade.

Polymarket - Best for social prediction trading
Polymarket stands out when I want the conversation around a prediction to be part of the experience. Its Squads feature lets friends discuss markets, share positions and Combos, and follow one another’s activity inside private groups. I like the distinction that everyone still trades through their own account.
For U.S. readers, I’m comparing Polymarket US, not assuming that every feature or funding method on the international platform carries over. The U.S. product uses a regulated event-market structure and dollar-based trading.
I’d choose Polymarket over Moon for a more social event-trading experience. I would still make my own decisions: a busy group chat doesn’t improve the terms of a bad trade.

Novig - Best for sports-first prediction trading
Novig is the clearest change of direction when I’m leaving Moon because I want sports. Its current product is a real-money sports prediction exchange, rather than its former Coins and Cash model.
The fee structure is another reason I’d put it on my shortlist. Novig lists no trading fees on pregame straight trades, but that doesn’t extend to every market and order type. Live trades, certain futures, and parlays require a closer look at the applicable taker fees.
I’d choose Novig over Moon when my attention is on a matchup, a player, or a championship race. It’s a sports alternative, not an attempt to recreate Moon’s asset-price wagering.

ProphetX - Best for exchange-style trading
ProphetX interests me when I want to pay more attention to execution. Its exchange infrastructure supports limit orders and real-time market data, making price and available size central to the comparison.
That changes the questions I ask. Instead of starting with a leverage setting, I look at the price I can get, how much is available, and whether I’m willing to leave an order waiting. A requested order size doesn’t guarantee a complete fill; available liquidity still matters.
I also wouldn’t describe ProphetX as sports-only anymore, given its documented addition of political markets. I’d choose it over Moon for its event-trading tools and execution-focused approach.

Underdog - Best for streamlined prediction trading
Underdog is my shortlist option when I want a sports-focused interface without making exchange mechanics the main attraction. Prediction Picks covers listed sports outcomes through an experience organized around making selections.
There is an important detail underneath that simplicity: Underdog can route predictions through different exchanges, including UDX, Kalshi, and Nadex. The app handles that routing; I shouldn’t assume I’m manually choosing among three competing quotes for every selection.
I’d choose Underdog over Moon for a more guided sports-prediction experience. I’d also keep its different products straight rather than assuming a fantasy promotion automatically becomes unrestricted prediction-market credit.

FanDuel Predicts - Best for beginners
FanDuel Predicts is where I’d start the comparison for someone who wants a familiar brand and a more approachable event-market experience. Its menu includes sports and several non-sports categories, although sports access depends on location.
I see the appeal as a clearer starting question: what outcome am I predicting, what does the contract cost, and what would it pay if correct? That is the framework I’d rather introduce before discussing a leveraged wager’s moving profit, loss, and maximum-loss level.
I’d choose FanDuel Predicts over Moon for that introduction to event contracts. “Beginner-friendly” is my usability judgment, not a promise that the trades themselves are low-risk.
Offer only valid in AK, AL, CA, DE, FL, GA, HI, ID, MN, ND, NE, NM, OK, RI, SC, SD, TX, or UT

Event contract trading involves significant risk and is not appropriate for everyone. Please carefully consider if it is appropriate for you in light of your personal financial circumstances. FanDuel Predicts products are not available in all jurisdictions.
Gemini - Best for fee-conscious traders
Gemini earns a place on my shortlist because its published Predictions fee schedule distinguishes between maker and taker orders. I like being able to compare how the way I enter a trade affects its cost instead of relying on a blanket “low fees” claim.
Its crypto background also makes it relevant to the Moon comparison. Gemini Predictions offers event contracts with defined outcomes and dollar settlement, including questions tied to crypto prices. Familiar assets don’t mean identical mechanics, but they can make the change in format easier to understand.
I’d choose Gemini over Moon when I want to examine event-contract costs closely while keeping crypto-related predictions in the mix.

OG.com - Best for advanced trading tools
OG.com catches my attention when I want more context around an event market. Its OG Alpha feature provides AI-assisted explanations and information about markets and positions, giving me another way to examine what I’m looking at..
The platform’s listed categories also extend beyond financial assets into sports, politics, economics, culture, and climate. That makes it relevant when I want to move from following a price chart to researching a specific outcome..
I’d choose OG.com over Moon for that combination of event variety and additional research tools. I wouldn’t confuse an AI explanation with a reliable trading edge, and I’d still read the actual contract before acting.

Plus500 - Best for low-cost trading
Plus500 appeals to me when I want an event-contract fee structure that is easy to break down. Its published schedule lists a 1¢ commission plus a 1¢ exchange fee per contract, per side. I account for both entry and exit when evaluating a position I plan to close early.
That is a different calculation from Moon’s opening and performance-fee model. It isn’t automatically cheaper for every trade, but it gives me a straightforward cost to compare against the potential return.
I’m discussing Plus500’s U.S. prediction-market product here—not treating its other financial products as interchangeable. I’d choose it over Moon for a defined event-contract format with clearly itemized trading charges.

Crypto.com - Best Moon alternative for crypto
Crypto.com is a practical comparison for someone who already uses its app and wants to explore event contracts. Its Prediction Trading product offers fully collateralized contracts with dollar-based settlement. Supported crypto can be used to fund a trade, but it is converted into U.S. dollars rather than making the contract itself crypto-denominated.
I also like having order-price control in the comparison. Crypto.com supports limit orders for its Sports and Prediction Trading products, although an order still needs matching liquidity to execute.
I’d choose Crypto.com over Moon when account familiarity matters and I want to add event outcomes to an existing crypto routine—not recreate a leveraged asset wager.

How to choose a Moon alternative
Choosing the best Moon alternative starts with deciding what I’m missing from Moon. I compare market variety, liquidity, fees, trading tools, payments, and availability, but market selection matters most: if I want to trade sports, politics, or breaking news instead of asset-price movements, I need a platform built for those events.
🏈 Market selection
I start with the prediction, not the app. Do I want to back an asset’s direction, a team’s result, or a published economic figure? I then check whether the actual listed contract expresses that opinion accurately.
💧 Price and liquidity
I look beyond a market’s headline price. The spread, available size, and depth tell me more about what I might actually pay or receive. A thin order book can make entering or closing a position less straightforward than the displayed price suggests.
💰 Trading costs
I compare the full cost of my intended trade. Moon currently lists a 1% opening fee on the wager amount and a performance fee subject to a minimum of 10% of realized profits. That isn’t directly comparable to a fee per event contract without considering position size and outcome.
🎛️ Order control
I decide whether I value simplicity or more control over my execution price. A limit order can define the price I’m willing to accept, but it doesn’t guarantee that another participant will fill it.
💳 Payments
I check deposits and withdrawals before signing up. Moon’s account guide currently specifies crypto deposits, so someone seeking a different funding experience should verify the alternative’s supported methods, conversion costs, and withdrawal requirements.
📍 Availability
I check the specific product in my location, not just whether an operator’s website loads. An app may make some categories available while restricting others, as FanDuel Predicts explains for its sports markets.
📋 Settlement rules
I read the deadline, outcome source, and conditions that determine a result. For a price-based contract, I want to know exactly which price is being measured and when. A familiar asset name doesn’t make those details interchangeable.
CFTC-regulated prediction market alternatives to Moon
Regulation is another reason I separate Moon from the event-contract alternatives on this page. Kalshi, for example, operates a CFTC-designated contract market. That is a specific regulatory status, not a label I would automatically apply to every platform described as a prediction app.
I also check the structure behind the interface. An app can provide access to contracts through another exchange rather than operate every market itself. Underdog’s use of multiple underlying exchanges is a useful example of why that distinction matters.
My checklist is straightforward: identify the operator, identify the exchange, confirm eligibility, and read the rules for the product I’m using. Oversight doesn’t eliminate the possibility of losing money.
Christian Stringer, Prediction Markets Editor
Moon vs. Kalshi
The Kalshi vs Moon comparison starts from different questions. Moon centers on asset-price movement, while Kalshi organizes trading around defined event outcomes. I’d choose Kalshi when I want my watchlist to include subjects that don’t need an associated asset price.
For me, that makes Kalshi the broader alternative, not an identical product with a different logo.
Moon vs. Polymarket
Polymarket’s appeal is the combination of event trading and conversation. I’d choose its U.S. app when sharing and discussing positions through Squads is part of the experience I want. I wouldn’t mistake that social activity for evidence that a trade is more likely to win.
Moon vs. Novig
This is primarily an asset-versus-sports decision. Novig is built around sports event trading, so I’d choose it when my research concerns teams, players, and competitions rather than financial-price movement. Its current real-money exchange product also needs to be distinguished from its retired sweepstakes currencies.
Moon vs. ProphetX
I’d choose ProphetX when I want to work more deliberately with event-market prices and orders. The comparison shifts from managing a leveraged wager to deciding what price I’m willing to accept and whether enough liquidity is available to fill my trade.
Moon vs. OG.com
OG.com is the alternative I’d examine for more event-research context. Its AI-assisted tools can help explain markets and positions, but I still want the underlying rules and evidence, not an impressive-looking answer that I haven’t checked.
Moon vs. Crypto.com
Crypto.com is relevant when familiarity with a crypto account matters more than preserving Moon’s wagering mechanics. I’d keep the distinction clear: using supported crypto to fund a dollar-settled event contract is different from making a wager whose return tracks an asset’s movement.
Moon vs. FanDuel Predicts
FanDuel Predicts is the option I’d compare for a more approachable introduction to event contracts. I would first confirm which markets are available in my location, then assess the interface and pricing rather than assuming the familiar name makes every product accessible.
How we rate Moon alternatives
I use the Covers TradeGrade categories to structure the comparison, but I don’t score every app as though it is trying to do the same thing. The important question is whether an alternative delivers the experience I’m recommending it for.
Covers TradeGrade Rating categories
| Market liquidity and variety | ⭐ ?/5 |
| Pricing, fees, and spreads | ⭐ ?/5 |
| Banking and payout speed | ⭐ ?/5 |
| Contract clarity and settlement rules | ⭐ ?/5 |
| Security, regulation, and trust | ⭐ ?/5 |
| User experience and support | ⭐ ?/5 |
| Bonuses and promotions | ⭐ ?/5 |
Now that you know what goes into Covers TradeGrade, here’s what I look for when testing Moon and its alternatives.
📊 Market liquidity and variety
I look for useful markets rather than an inflated total. A platform needs relevant outcomes, but I also care about whether the markets I would use have enough available trading interest.
💸 Pricing, fees, and spreads
I compare costs at the level of the actual trade. A low advertised fee matters less when the spread is wide or when the fee structure doesn’t suit the way I intend to enter and exit.
💳 Banking and payout experience
I assess the steps between funding an account and receiving a withdrawal. My priorities are clear requirements, understandable costs, and a process that doesn’t hide important conditions until after a deposit.
📋 Contract clarity and settlement rules
I want to understand what makes a position win or lose before committing money. Clear outcome sources, deadlines, and exceptional-event rules carry more weight with me than a catchy market title.
🔒 Security, regulation, and trust
I examine the entity behind the product, its stated regulatory framework, account protections, and restrictions. I don’t treat branding or a familiar app-store presence as a substitute for that information.
📱 User experience and support
I consider how easily I can find a market, understand a price, review an order, and obtain help. Simplicity earns credit when it improves understanding, not when it conceals details I need.
🎁 Bonuses and promotions
I compare qualifying actions, usable reward value, expiry, and product restrictions. A large headline bonus gets less credit when its conditions make it difficult to use for the experience being recommended.

Are prediction markets legal in the US?
Some prediction-market exchanges operate under federal CFTC oversight, including Kalshi. However, I don’t treat that as a blanket statement that every app, contract category, or location has identical access.
Moon needs a separate answer: its current terms prohibit U.S. users. I would not present it as a U.S.-available equivalent to the regulated event-contract platforms discussed here.
Before depositing anywhere, I check the current eligibility rules for the operator, the underlying exchange, and the particular product.
Responsible gambling
I treat prediction trading as money at risk, not a dependable income source. A familiar team, a confident forecast, or a generous promotion doesn’t guarantee an outcome. My approach is to set a spending limit before opening the app, keep essential money out of the account, and avoid increasing my activity to recover losses.
Having several apps should create more options to compare, not a larger budget. Support is available when trading or gambling starts affecting finances, relationships, or peace of mind.
There are plenty of resources available for players who are struggling and may need assistance, including the following:

Apps like Moon FAQ
Kalshi is my best Moon alternative overall because it gives me a much wider range of markets, including sports, politics, economics, crypto, weather, and culture. I’d choose it when I want to trade specific event outcomes rather than just asset-price movements.
Yes, but I’d look beyond Moon itself for sports. Novig and ProphetX are my preferred sports-first alternatives, while Kalshi and Polymarket also give me access to sports event contracts alongside other categories.
No. Moon currently focuses on whether supported asset prices will move Up or Down, so I need another platform if I want to predict NFL, NBA, MLB, college sports, or other game outcomes directly.
No, Moon doesn’t currently offer traditional election or political event markets. I’d use Kalshi or Polymarket when I want to trade an election, political decision, or other defined political outcome.
Moon lets me wager on the price direction of supported assets, including crypto, stocks, commodities, and currencies. I choose Up or Down and can use leverage, making the experience much different from buying a standard Yes/No event contract.
Moon primarily lets me wager on asset-price movement, while Kalshi and Polymarket revolve around contracts tied to specific event outcomes. That makes Moon more specialized, while Kalshi and Polymarket give me substantially more variety outside financial markets.
Moon lets me predict whether supported crypto prices will move Up or Down, but I wouldn’t describe these as traditional crypto event contracts. If I want a defined question such as whether Bitcoin will reach a particular price by a deadline, I’d look at alternatives like Kalshi, Gemini, or Crypto.com.
No. Moon currently lists the United States as a prohibited jurisdiction, so U.S. users should look at eligible alternatives instead.
Moon doesn’t currently offer a native iOS or Android app. I can access Moon through a mobile browser and add its web app to my home screen for easier access.
Moon currently charges a 1% opening fee based on my wager amount, while profitable positions can also incur a performance fee. I’d also check for applicable holding fees before keeping a position open for an extended period.
