Q&A with Brett Collson
What got you into writing about prediction markets?
I’ve always been drawn to the math behind sports and real-world events: probabilities, pricing, and how markets move. Prediction markets felt like a natural extension of that interest, and like poker, DFS, and sports betting before it, it’s an emerging space I wanted to understand early and help explain to others.
What do you look for in a prediction market?
I evaluate prediction markets based on three things: user experience, pricing, and liquidity. The platform should be easy to navigate, prices should reflect efficient market conditions, and there should be sufficient volume to trade effectively. All of this is supported by a solid range of available markets.
What’s your best advice for prediction market traders?
Start small and take the time to learn how the platform works before committing more money. Set clear limits for yourself, stick to them, and avoid chasing losses. Discipline is just as important as finding value.
New to prediction markets? I highly recommend starting with Covers’ growing library of guides and news to understand how these markets work, what drives prices, and where real opportunities may exist.

Brett's memories
🚀 Big Win
One of my favorite betting memories came in 2022, when I backed Luke List at +9000 to win the Farmers Insurance Open. When List reached a playoff against Will Zalatoris, I fought every human instinct to hedge (I hate hedging futures wagers) and watched it pay off in full when List won his first PGA Tour title. It did, however, take a few months off my life.
😭 Bad Beat?
There isn’t one single bad beat that sticks out to me, but I vividly recall losing several ridiculous late-game college football spread bets in 2006 that permanently shifted me away from betting on the number. You will forever find me in the moneyline streets, where my outcome aligns with the team.
