Wings vs Lynx Predictions, Picks, Odds for Tonight’s WNBA Game

If history is any indication, we are in for a high-scoring game when the Dallas Wings take on the Minnesota Lynx. Both teams sit inside the Top 5 in points per game, and our WNBA picks believe the total doesn't stand a chance.

The 2024 WNBA Commissioner’s Cup opening weekend concludes with a matchup between the Dallas Wings and Minnesota Lynx in Minneapolis.

The Wings are concluding a five-game road trip, where they are currently 2-2 (3-3 overall). The Lynx are 5-2 following a blowout win over the Phoenix Mercury on Friday night.

My Wings vs. Lynx predictions run down the spread and total for this Commissioner’s Cup battle as I give my best WNBA picks for June 2.

My analysis

Two of the premier players in the WNBA will clash on Sunday evening when Arike Ogunbowale and the Dallas Wings travel to Minneapolis to take on Napheesa Collier and the Minnesota Lynx. Ognubowale leads the league in scoring at 27.5 points per game and is fourth in steals at 2.3 per contest. Collier is fourth in scoring at 21.0 points, third in rebounding at 10.9 boards, and third in steals at 2.4 per game.

The Lynx have one of the best offenses in the WNBA, averaging 86.3 points per game, which ranks second, while also having a premier defense that ranks third in scoring (77.6 ppg allowed). They also lead the league in three-point shooting percentage and assists thanks to Kayla McBride and Courtney Williams.

The Wings also have a solid offense, averaging 83.7 points per game (fifth in the WNBA), while also leading the league in rebounds and blocks per game. They like to play fast-paced games averaging 71.8 field goal attempts per contest (fourth) and allowing 72.8 field goal attempts to their opponents (most in the league).

Last season, these two teams split the season series, but one thing remained constant — they were extremely high-scoring games. The four games averaged a total of 176.3 points per contest and all four games easily hit the Over. In fact, six of the last seven games between these two teams have gone Over the closing total.

While both teams have played a fair mix of high and low-scoring games this season, they just match up perfectly for a fast-paced game script. There should be plenty of shot attempts with the Lynx relying on ball movement and threes, while the Wings are relying on baskets around the rim and second-chance opportunities. Regardless of who comes out on top, this one will be high-scoring.

Wings vs Lynx same-game parlay (SGP)

Over 164

Courtney Williams 6+ assists

Teaira McCown Over 11.5 points

In a high-scoring affair, we should have plenty of opportunities to find some player props for a solid same-game parlay. Courtney Williams averages 6.0 assists per game this season and has not had a single game with less than five assists all year. Last year against the Wings — while playing for the Chicago Sky — she averaged 6.3 assists per contest.

Finally, I will look to a scorer for the Wings. Last season, most of the scoring came from Natasha Howard and Satou Sabally in these games against the Lynx, but both players are out with injuries. Ogunbowale and Teaira McCowan will need to do the work down low and with all the eyes on Ogunbowale, I like McCowan to hit her point total.
