The red-hot Golden State Valkyries head south down the California coast to take on the Los Angeles Sparks at Crypto.com Arena.

Golden State has dominated opponents in recent contests, and my Valkyries vs. Sparks predictions call for the visitors to cover once again as road favorites.

Find out more in my WNBA picks for Sunday, Aug. 9.

Valkyries vs Sparks prediction

Valkyries vs Sparks best bet: Valkyries -6.5 (-110)

At 12-2, the WNBA’s best record across the last 14 games belongs to the Golden State Valkyries.

In that span, they sport the league’s second-best point differential at +8.4 per game, and nine of the V’s 12 wins have come by at least seven points.

Golden State has been excellent on the road, going 6-1 SU while allowing just 73.3 ppg and finishing +70. Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Sparks sport a -3.9 ppg point differential at home — 14th in the W.

This should be a comfortable GSV win that I’ll play up to -9.5.

Covers COVERS INTEL: Over the last 14 games, the Valkyries lead the W in net rating at 11.6. Over their last seven road games, they’re head and shoulders above the competition in that category at 13.4.

Valkyries vs Sparks same-game parlay

The V’s and Sparks have hit the Under in four of five career matchups. Golden State’s league-leading defense and slowest pace can limit LA’s offense, as it did in a 78-58 GSV victory earlier this season.

Playable down to 165.5.

Veronica Burton has averaged 7.2 assists over her last six games, dishing 7+ four times. She finished with seven in her last game out, as the V’s set a franchise record with 27 against the Dallas Wings.

Los Angeles has allowed the second-most assists, and I price this line at -110.

Valkyries vs Sparks SGP

  • Valkyries -6.5
  • Under 169.5
  • Veronica Burton Over 6.5 assists

Valkyries vs Sparks player prop pick

Veronica Burton Over 1.5 threes (-105)

Burton has knocked down multiple 3-pointers in five of her last six contests. In that span, she’s averaged 2.2 triples on 43.3% shooting from long range.

The Sparks have surrendered the second-most threes per game (9.4), and they’ve allowed opponents to shoot 34.7% from beyond the arc.

Burton hit 2+ triples in each of her last two against LA, and I expect a similar showing tonight.
