Valkyries vs Liberty Predictions, Picks & Odds for Tonight’s WNBA Game

Sabrina Ionescu started the season slowly but exploded for 23 points against the Fever over the weekend. We don't have any hesitation in backing her to clear her 16.5-point total tonight against the Valkyries.

The New York Liberty’s WNBA title defense is off to a 3-0 start, and they’ll look to stay perfect tonight against the Golden State Valkyries.

Jonquel Jones came up big as New York edged past Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever over the weekend. Still, Sabrina Ionescu had some clutch moments and my Valkyries vs Liberty predictions signal another high-volume outing for the hosts’ sharpshooter.

Read on for my WNBA picks ahead of this Tuesday, May 27 clash — the first of two battles between these teams this week.

My Valkyries vs Liberty best bet: Sabrina Ionescu Over 16.5 points (+105 at bet365)

After two quiet outings to start the new season, Sabrina Ionescu made some noise against the Indiana Fever on Saturday, with two clutch free throws in a 23-point effort.

Sure, Ionescu’s 8-for-20 shooting line was far from efficient, but she was aggressive and willing to fire her way into form. With her averaging 18.2 PPG during the 2024 regular season, this 16.5 O/U number feels too low — and I’m jumping on the Over at slight plus-money odds.

A career 36% shooter from downtown, the 3-ball is always a major factor with Ionescu, and she’s made at least two 3-pointers in six of her past nine contests, dating back to last year’s playoffs. Pencil her in for a couple more here.

Natasha Cloud’s arrival this offseason is easing Ionescu's playmaking burden, setting up more scoring opportunities, and there’s no one better than No. 20 at creating space around screens.

The Valkyries have held their last two opponents below 75 points, but this is a step up in quality. If Golden State has to send double teams to slow down Jonquel Jones and Breanna Stewart in the post, it’s only a matter of time before Ionescu makes them pay from the perimeter.

Sabrina struggled in New York’s home opener, but I’m banking on a different script at Barclays Center here.

Valkyries vs Liberty same-game parlay (SGP)

Sabrina Ionescu Over 16.5 points

Valkyries +16.5

Breanna Stewart Over 6.5 rebounds

The Valkyries can’t match the Liberty’s star power, but they’ve looked more cohesive than you might expect from an expansion team so early in its first season.

The 16.5-point line undersells Golden State’s talent level, including veteran Kayla Thornton, who spent two years in New York, and rookie Janelle Salaun. The visitors won on the road against the Los Angeles Sparks last time out, and I’m taking the points tonight in a big underdog spot.

There should still be plenty of work for the Liberty on the glass here, though. I’m pumping up the SGP odds with the Over on 6.5 rebounds for Breanna Stewart, who’s grabbed 7+ boards in two of her last three games.

Don’t count on many second-chance points for the Valkyries here with Stewart and Jones in the paint.
