The Las Vegas Aces have lost four of their last five and failed to cover in five straight, and now they’ve got the surging Seattle Storm coming to town tonight.
With A’ja Wilson still questionable after a concussion, this feels like a great spot for Skylar Diggins to step up, and my Storm vs. Aces predictions are banking on a big night from the Seattle star.
Find out why as I break down my favorite WNBA picks for Friday, June 20.
Storm vs Aces predictions
My Storm vs Aces best bet: Skylar Diggins Over 17.5 points (-115 at bet365)
Skylar Diggins has bounced back tremendously from her inefficient scoring from the 2024 campaign.
Last season — her first with the Seattle Storm — Diggins averaged 15.1 points while shooting 42.7% from the field and 29.1% from beyond the arc. This season, she’s knocking down 45.1% of her field goal attempts, including a 42.2% mark from long distance. Both are the second-best marks of her career.
Diggins has scored at least 18 points in eight of 12 matchups, including five of six on the road, where she has exceled.
Diggins has averaged 15.3 points at home compared to 20.3 on the road. Her FG% has been identical at home and on the road, but she’s been awful from 3-point range at home (21.4%) but lights out on the road (51.6%).
Diggins’ strong scoring numbers and improved efficiency should play well at Michelob Ultra Arena tonight. The Las Vegas Aces have allowed the fifth-most points per game to opponents this season and the fifth-highest 3-point percentage. Las Vegas is ninth in defensive rating, and the team’s chances of stopping opposing scorers won’t be great with an injured or limited A’ja Wilson.
Diggins’ home/road splits and a matchup with the vulnerable Aces defense point to an Over on this scoring line.
Storm vs Aces same-game parlay (SGP)
Skylar Diggins Over 17.5 points
Nneka Ogwumike Over 27.5 points + rebounds + assists
Chelsea Gray Over 11.5 points
Nneka Ogwumike has posted solid numbers this season, going for 16.5 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 2.6 assists, good for 27.3 PRA. She’s hit the Over on this line in just five of 12 appearances, but she’s reached that mark in two of her last three.
Seattle’s star forward averaged 28 PRA in two games vs. the Aces last season. Expect another strong performance against a potentially shorthanded Aces frontcourt.
I’ll take the Over on Chelsea Gray’s scoring line even if Wilson is cleared to play.
Gray’s home/road splits heavily favor the Over here. Gray has averaged 18.6 points on 43.9% shooting at home compared to 11.2 points on 39.6% shooting on the road. She’s scored at least 12 points in all five of her home games, and I’m betting that she extends that streak to six.
