The Los Angeles Sparks put a three-game winning streak on the line when they visit the Connecticut Sun at Mohegan Sun Arena tonight. NBCS-Boston and Spectrum SportsNet share the coverage beginning at 7:00 p.m. ET.

Despite the solid recent play from L.A., my Sparks vs. Sun predictions expect Marina Mabrey & Co. to keep this game close.

Here are my WNBA picks for Thursday, July 24.

Sparks vs Sun predictions

My Sparks vs Sun best bet: Sun +6 (-108 at FanDuel)

Despite a narrow 92–88 loss to the Los Angeles Sparks on July 13, the Connecticut Sun have covered the spread in three straight games in this head-to-head.

Tonight, Connecticut is a 6-point underdog, up from an opening line of +4.5 at home, where it's 5-5 ATS this season.

The Sparks, 7-4-1 ATS on the road and riding a three-game win streak, are in good form, but their recent success likely overvalues them in the betting markets.

Marina Mabrey’s return adds multi-level scoring, playmaking, and defensive physicality for the Sun, ideal for attacking a Sparks team averaging 16 turnovers per game.

The Sun score 15.1 points per game off opponent turnovers, while the Sparks allow a WNBA-second-worst 18 points per game off giveaways. That edge, along with its home-court energy and Mabrey’s spark, will keep Connecticut close in this tight game.

Take the Sun to cover the number in a competitive, turnover-driven battle.

Sparks vs Sun same-game parlay (SGP)

Sun +6

Sparks moneyline

Tina Charles 15+ points

The Sparks are an improving road team that’s won two straight away from home. Connecticut should keep this game close enough to cover, but L.A. and its depth will ultimately outlast the Sun.

Tina Charles, averaging 18.0 points on 16.2 field-goal attempts in July, should exploit the Sparks’ second-worst paint defense (36.8 PPG allowed) with the additional touches she’ll get from Mabrey’s interior passing skills.
