Tonight's WNBA doubleheader puts the spotlight on the top-seed Minnesota Lynx, and Olivia Miles is primed to add to her runaway Rookie of the Year case.

The Minnesota Lynx enter tonight’s hoops action as the WNBA’s No. 1 seed — and the best is yet to come, with Napheesa Collier nearing a long-awaited return.

It’s not as rosy elsewhere in this Monday doubleheader, as the Phoenix Mercury and Los Angeles Sparks trudge through underwhelming seasons, but my WNBA player props look at the positives, and I’m backing Dearica Hamby and Olivia Miles to catch the eye here.

Check out my WNBA picks for July 13.

Dearica Hamby Over 16.5 points (+105)

Dearica Hamby is doing her part to nudge the Los Angeles Sparks back on track, and I’m buying into her recent scoring surge ahead of tonight’s visit to the Atlanta Dream.

Don’t be put off by Hamby’s 14.8 points per game mark this year, because she’s cashed this Over in four of her last five outings and is set for steady volume again with Kelsey Plum still out.

Hamby has shot 50% or better from the field in seven of her past eight contests, and she’ll have even more room to operate in the paint if Atlanta’s Angel Reese (questionable) is sidelined.

Plus, without Reese to anchor the back line of the defense, the Dream gave up 102 points against the Portland Fire on Saturday — and 40 of those points came in the paint, where Hamby feasts.

Jordin Canada Over 19.5 points + assists (-120)

Jordin Canada ranks fourth in the WNBA with 7.3 apg — and she’s taken her playmaking up another notch lately, with 45 dimes across her last five outings.

I’m banking on more of the same tonight from the Atlanta Dream point guard against a miserable Los Angeles Sparks defense that’s allowing a league-worst 93.2 ppg this season.

Canada’s scoring can be erratic, but she’s made enough buckets to cash this Over in her past two games, and she’s shooting a career-high 45% from the field this year.

Though there are lots of mouths to feed in this Dream offense, Canada benefits from the extra attention that opponents give to Allisha Gray, and I expect Atlanta to come out with a renewed focus to move on from an ugly 1-6 stretch.

Olivia Miles Over 23.5 points + rebounds (-120)

Olivia Miles is the biggest reason that the Minnesota Lynx have surpassed expectations through the first half of the season, and she’s primed for another dynamic performance tonight against the Phoenix Mercury.

Miles has nailed this combo Over in four of her last five games, and she’s now scored 20+ points in five of her past seven games. Make no mistake, she’s capable of getting to this O/U number in points alone, but her work on the glass is a nice bonus.

The Lynx rookie is coming off back-to-back contests with five rebounds — 4.8 rpg for the year — and now faces a Mercury squad that was embarrassed in every department in Saturday’s 106-58 loss to the Las Vegas Aces. Miles brings the kind of downhill speed that spells trouble for an aging Phoenix roster.
