Get set for late-night WNBA action when the Golden State Valkyries welcome the red-hot Washington Mystics to Chase Center.

The home crowd should be treated to a fast-paced, chaotic ballgame, and my Mystics vs. Valkyries predictions expect both squads to light up the scoreboard.

Read on as I share my WNBA picks for Wednesday, May 21.

Mystics vs Valkyries predictions

My Mystics vs Valkyries best bet: Over 162.5 (-110 at BetMGM)

The Washington Mystics, blending savvy veterans with dynamic rookies, have erased double-digit fourth-quarter deficits to join Minnesota, New York, and Phoenix as the WNBA’s only unbeaten teams at 2-0.

Guard Brittney Sykes powers the Mystics, averaging 24.5 points per game and leading four players with double-digit scoring. The bench adds 21 points per night, fueling a potent offense that churns out 92 points per game. The Mystics needed every bucket, though, as their defense surrenders 87.5 points each contest.

The Golden State Valkyries, meanwhile, stumbled in their debut, falling 84-67 to the L.A. Sparks after coughing up 22 turnovers.

Veterans Tiffany Hayes (19.0 ppg) and Temi Fagbenle provide scoring punch, while Belgian sharpshooter Julie Vanloo anchors a bench that ranks among the league’s highest-scoring units.

Tonight’s clash at Chase Center promises a fast-paced, occasionally chaotic battle between two young WNBA squads. Both teams boast potent second-half offenses that will face inconsistent shooting defenses. That should lead to a high-scoring affair at Chase Center tonight.

Mystics vs Valkyries same-game parlay (SGP)

Over 163

Mystics first half -3

Mystics -5.5

Tonight’s clash at Chase Center should be a high-scoring affair, and I like the Mystics to cover the 3.5-point first-half spread and win comfortably.

The Mystics’ knack for turning steals into points (20.5 ppg off turnovers) exploits the Valkyries’ sloppiness, who allowed 23 ppg from miscues in their 83-82 debut loss. This mismatch fuels an early lead to cover the first-half spread and sets up a decisive victory.

The second half should follow suit, as the Mystics’ depth overwhelms Golden State’s inexperienced bench. Washington averages 51 second-half points, leading the WNBA with nineteen 2H free-throw attempts.

Washington’s defense notches 3.5 steals and 3.5 2H blocks while hitting 53% of 9.5 second-half three-point attempts. The Valkyries, lacking consistency and reserves, can’t match this on either end.
