No one can question the New York Liberty’s big-game talent, but this season has been a bumpy ride — and the next stop is today’s clash with their former head coach Sandy Brondello and the Toronto Tempo.

This is a nice spot for New York on the second day of a back-to-back set, with Toronto missing key creators and on a four-game skid, and my Liberty vs. Tempo predictions back Sabrina Ionescu to lead the charge in this afternoon's visit to Montreal.

Read on for my WNBA picks ahead of this July 12 battle.

Liberty vs Tempo prediction

Liberty vs Tempo best bet: Sabrina Ionescu Over 22.5 points + assists (-112)

The New York Liberty have a few extra gears to find en route to the postseason and one of those comes from unlocking Sabrina Ionescu.

The signs are positive, with Ionescu finding her shooting stroke and nailing this combo in three of her last four outings. In that span, she’s averaging 20.5 points per game, plus 5+ dimes in each contest.

So this line feels too low against a Toronto Tempo defense that’s allowing opponents to shoot 47% from the field this season. Look for Sabrina to cook and cash in on the absence of Brittney Sykes, Toronto’s premier perimeter defender.

Covers COVERS INTEL: The Tempo haven’t held an opponent under 80 points since June 7, and they’re giving up 92.1 ppg this year, making this a dream matchup for a well-oiled offense.

Liberty vs Tempo same-game parlay

With Ionescu inching closer to top form, this SGP doubles down on a productive outing for the Liberty offense. The Tempo have lost four in a row at home, while New York could be boosted by Leonie Fiebich’s return.

Breanna Stewart & Co. also handled Toronto with ease last month in a 97-82 victory at Barclays Center, and it’s hard to see an upset when the banged-up Tempo are counting heavily on role players.

The Over is 14-8 for Toronto this year, and it’s 9-2 in the Liberty’s 11 road games, so expect offensive fireworks this afternoon.

Liberty vs Tempo player prop pick

Marina Mabrey Over 20.5 points (-115)

Marina Mabrey exploded for 34 points last time out, and that's where I'm looking today, with the Tempo's best scorer locked into a high volume role. Without Sykes and Kiki Rice, the ball is going to be in Mabrey's hands early and often, and she's knocked down 21 3-pointers across her past five games.

The Liberty struggled to control the Minnesota Lynx backcourt in yesterday's loss, and Mabrey is well placed to emulate the success of Olivia Miles and Kayla McBride, who combined for 48 points in that matchup.
