The Korean Zombie vs Ige betting preview

The "Korean Zombie" Chan Sung Jung is the No. 4 ranked UFC featherweight contender but is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Brian Ortega last October. Jung returned to the octagon in 2017 after taking more than three years away from MMA to fulfill his mandatory military service in South Korea.

Since then, he has gone 3-2 with knockout wins over Frankie Edgar, Renato Moicano, and Dennis Bermudez and a last-second knockout loss to Yair Rodriguez in one of the best tilts of 2018.

The Korean Zombie gets his nickname from his incredible ability to keep coming forward and attacking, while seemingly shrugging off his opponent's strikes.

Dan Ige is No. 8 in the featherweight rankings and is fresh off a win over Gavin Tucker in March, where he starched the Canadian fighter 22 seconds into the opening round. That victory allowed Ige to bounce back from a unanimous decision loss to Calvin Kattar and improved his record to 7-1 in his last eight trips to the octagon.

A black belt in BJJ and a former NCAA Div III wrestler, Ige is a well-rounded fighter that combines strong grappling with crisp hands.

The Korean Zombie vs Ige UFC predictions and betting picks

PREDICTION: Moneyline - Dan Ige (-110) - When it comes to the striking exchanges, KZ is more than just a brawler, possessing good boxing technique, but he's still very hittable.

Not all unanimous decision losses are the same and Jung was absolutely dominated in his most recent bout. Ortega knocked him down twice, landed three takedowns, and had a 127-62 edge in significant strikes.

In Ige's recent unanimous decision loss to Calvin Kattar, he proved that he can go toe-to-toe with an elite striker and withstand damage. Look for Ige to take everything KZ throws at him and use his high-volume striking, accuracy, and cardio to grind out a victory.

PREDICTION: Ige by points (+230) - Ige is a strong wrestler, however, Jung's excellent takedown defense and underrated submission skills make the ground game a wash.

Ige might not be able to land many takedowns but he should at least try to implement his wrestling, which will likely slow down this fight and drag out rounds so that they aren't pure striking exchanges.

Jung is most well-known for his remarkable toughness, his ability to keep advancing despite taking absurd punishment from his foes. Despite Ige one-punching Tucker in his last appearance in the octagon, I have a difficult time seeing him put away the Korean Zombie here. Take Ige to win on points.

PREDICTION: Fight to go the distance (-118) - Jung has a history of finishing fights within the distance but his last bout went the full 25 minutes and Ige has proven that he has an iron chin.

Matter of fact, Ige has never been finished in his 18-fight career and has only been knocked down once in nine UFC bouts. With four of Ige's last five fights going to the judges' cards back this bout to go the distance.
