A potential shake-up at lightweight may be on our hands as Mateusz Gamrot faces off against Ludovit Klein in the co-main event of this weekend’s UFC Fight Night

Gamrot has floated as a potential title contender for some time, but now he’ll have to protect his spot as Klein is emerging as a top contender.

UFC odds favor Gamrot at -160, and Klein is a +125 underdog. Here are my best Gamrot vs. Klein predictions and free betting picks from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.

Gamrot vs Klein prediction and best bet

Fight analysis
Five years ago, Mateusz Gamrot looked like a future contender after narrowly defeating Arman Tsarukyan for a win that has aged incredibly well. However, a series of ill-timed losses have kept him out of the title picture.

Now at 34, Gamrot finds himself fighting to stay relevant against Ludovit Klein, a surging lightweight in his prime who has quietly built real momentum since moving up from featherweight.

Gamrot is coming off a split-decision loss to Dan Hooker at UFC 305, where he struggled to implement his grappling game and was outclassed in the striking exchanges.

While Gamrot is a natural grappler, he's proven himself well-rounded with unorthodox takedowns, decent power, and explosive athleticism. He averages 5.25 takedowns per fight with 3.23 significant strikes landed per minute. He also holds a three-inch height advantage in this bout.

That said, Gamrot's striking numbers are slipping, as he's been out-landed in four of his last five fights and has been knocked down three times, raising questions about his durability and defensive awareness.

Klein, on the other hand, is a crisp, efficient striker who can mix in takedowns when necessary. He’s riding a four-fight win streak, including a standout performance over Ignacio Bahamondes, where he completely shut him down with sharp boxing and wrestling.

Klein lands 3.81 significant strikes per minute with 54% accuracy, and his elite-level 91% takedown defense will be key in neutralizing Gamrot’s main weapon.

While Klein can be overly cautious and tends to fight in spurts, his discipline and technical skill make him a difficult puzzle to solve.

If Klein can keep the fight standing, he has a clear edge. Gamrot's declining defensive metrics and struggles against polished strikers make this a difficult matchup for him.

Klein’s takedown defense and superior technique could very well carry him to a statement win. I’m going with Klein for the upset.

Best bet analysis
The combination of Klein’s excellent takedown defense and superior striking is enough to seriously trouble Gamrot. While Gamrot is still dangerous with his grappling, his defensive lapses and tendency to get knocked down by technical strikers like Klein could ultimately cost him in a close fight.

Expect Klein to outpoint him over three rounds and win a narrow decision.
