Erin Blanchfield faces off against Manon Fiorot in the main event for UFC Fight Night betting tonight from Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City.

This could serve as a title eliminator with Blanchfield the No. 2 ranked women's flyweight contender and Fiorot just one spot behind her. UFC odds opened with Blanchfield as a -140 favorite and money has come on her, moving her line to -190 with Fiorot being offered at +155.

Blanchfield vs Fiorot picks

Fight prediction: Erin Blanchfield

Erin Blanchfield is fresh off a unanimous decision win against Taila Santos where she struggled to get takedowns and was outstruck in the first round. However, Blanchfield weathered the storm in the early going and used her grueling pace and ability to control Santos on the mat and against the cage in the final rounds to grind out a victory. 

Fiorot brings a very similar skillset to the table as her opponent but isn't quite as good as Santos who was coming off a close split-decision loss to former longtime champ Valentina Shevchenko. Like Santos, Fiorot is also a very good striker with a Muay Thai base and strong takedown defense, and the fact Blanchfield has beaten someone with those tools bodes well for her success here. 

However, Fiorot has never fought against an opponent with the same level of grappling and pressure as Blanchfield. Fiorot might be able to rely on her strength and takedown defense to keep this fight standing up at first, but Blanchfield's repeated attempts will get to her eventually.

From there, Blanchfield should be able to either get into mount or control Fiorot against the cage. Look for Blanchfield's pressure, cardio, and grappling to be the difference here.

Blanchfield picked up a win by doctor's stoppage in her MMA debut back in 2018 but hasn't had a KO/TKO win since. She also doesn't have a single knockdown at the UFC level and I don't see her knocking out Fiorot who is a better striker and has never been dropped in her career.

Blanchfield is far more likely to grind out a decision win or submit Fiorot with her strong BJJ skills so it makes sense to take the double chance winning method for better odds than the straight moneyline.

With that victory against Santos, Blanchfield extended her winning streak to nine fights and likely set herself up for a title shot if she can get the win here in her hometown of New Jersey. "Cold Blooded" is 12-1 in her career with her only loss coming in a split decision against Tracy Cortez way back in 2019. 

The 24-year-old is a rising star and she has some of the best BJJ skills in the division with three of her last four wins coming by submission. Blanchfield fights with relentless pace and when she's able to secure a takedown she uses her top control to unleash ground-and-pound and hunt for submissions. 

Fiorot is coming off a unanimous decision victory against former strawweight champ Rose Namajunas last September. Since losing in her pro debut against Leah McCourt in 2018, Fiorot has reeled off 11 straight wins including six in a row inside the octagon.

With a background in karate and Muay Thai, Fiorot is a high-volume striker with precision and power in her shots. That said, she has shown a willingness to mix in her wrestling and has excellent takedown defense thanks to her formidable strength.
