Boston College will look to take out some of its frustration in its home opener against FCS foe Wagner on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles are coming off an embarrassing 49-0 loss at Virginia Tech last week, their 10th straight defeat in ACC play and their third scoreless effort in that span.

"I think [the players were] ticked off [after Saturday]," coach Steve Addazio told reporters. "We practiced [on Sunday]. ... Players have the advantage over everybody. They watch the tape together. They know what's fact and what's fiction. So they see where our issues are, what we need to correct, why they occurred." The laundry list is a long one after a game in which Boston College was outgained 476-124 and allowed Virginia Tech to hold the ball for over 35 minutes, which wore out a usually stout defensive unit. Patrick Towles completed 9-of-28 passes and had an interception for the 119th-ranked FBS passing attack. He will take aim at a Seahawks defense that has allowed 256 yards per game - sixth-fewest among FCS squads - and helped produce a 38-0 win over Concordia on Sept. 10.

ABOUT WAGNER (2-0): The Seahawks are coming off their first shutout win in nearly two years after outgaining Concordia by a 364-116 margin two weekends ago, and they have already doubled their win total from 2015. Much of the improvement has been under center, as junior quarterback Alex Thomson has thrown for four TDs in the first two games after producing eight in 11 games a year ago. Denzel Knight leads a ground game that averages 7.3 yards per carry, compared to 2.6 for Wagner's opponents.

ABOUT BOSTON COLLEGE (1-2): Towles has not had much support in a running game that is averaging 3.5 yards per carry and has struggled to have a main man step up. The quarterback has led the team in rushing in consecutive weeks and Jonathan Hilliman - an 860-yard rusher as a freshman before injury cut short his 2015 season - has totaled only 56 yards on 32 carries over his last two games after producing 102 on 17 touches in the season-opening loss to Georgia Tech. Addazio pointed to injuries along a young offensive line as a factor in the sagging attack, and hopes to have sophomore guard Chris Lindstrom (ankle) healthy soon.

EXTRA POINTS

1. Towles has completed 21-of-50 passes in the last two games.

2. Boston College has allowed just two sacks while producing 10 of its own.

3. This is the first ever meeting between the teams.

PREDICTION: Boston College 31, Wagner 13
