I've been all over the Under in this series, and that's not changing today. These are two of the worst offenses in baseball, and Sean Manaea has been good enough in the follow-on role lately that he should keep the Padres in check. I'm backing the Under at -110 or better.
Randy Vasquez’s base stats (5-3, 3.31 ERA) look solid, but those numbers are hiding concerning trends. Vasquez has an xERA of 6.16, is allowing batters to barrel up on 13.1% of their swings, and is only generating ground balls on 36.4% of swings. I'm backing the Mets to get enough offense to win this game.

McDonald is the better starter, but his groundball reliance is not a perfect matchup against Chicago. The Cubs own abelow-average 40.4% ground-ball rate and above-average 28.1% fly-ball rate, so they are not an offense I want to automatically suppress with a contact-oriented arm. The Cubs will do their part and score, but the Giants have a much more direct route to getting after the opposing pitcher.

Coinflip game for me. I'd play to -105. Jameson Taillon is a starter I want to attack. His 5.24 xERA, 14.5% barrel rate, and .520 xSLG allowed point to a profile that has not turned the corner back to his career numbers. That is dangerous against a San Francisco lineup with Bryce Eldridge, Rafael Devers, Casey Schmitt, and Eric Haase.
