I’m pretty much on the market here, but I certainly lean toward the Under, given the spot. I’m not sure how effective the sluggish Yankees offense will be, which is the big driver for this one. We’ve already mentioned the impressive metrics surrounding Henderson in a limited sample. Beyond that, though, the Brewers' bullpen, with a collective 1.33 WHIP and 3.46 ERA, is well rested.

There’s a bit of an element of fatigue at play here, surely, with the Yankees playing their ninth game in nine days. There’s also the aspect of rebounding quickly after essentially a choke last night. And, certainly not least, there’s the aspect of Carlos Rodon making his season debut after not being exactly a picture of consistency last season. Add it up, and I make this a coin flip. I’d play the Brewers to -105.

The Braves will start Bryce Elder and his 2.02 ERA. His success has come from avoiding solid contact. His barrel rate, hard hit percentage, average exit velocity, and sweet spot percentage are all significantly down. The Dodgers start Justin Wrobleski, who has a 1.25 ERA and no homers allowed this season.

The Dodgers’ bullpen is running on fumes. L.A. starters haven’t completed five innings in each of the last three games, and twice failed to escape the second inning. That has forced 14 relievers to throw a combined 266 pitches over the last three days, prompting manager Dave Roberts to admit fresh arms may be needed for Sunday.
That’s a dangerous setup against an Atlanta lineup that appears to have rediscovered its rhythm. After a brief offensive dip following their Colorado series, the Braves erupted for seven runs on Saturday and continue to rank among MLB’s best offenses, sitting first in slugging and second in batting average.

Noah Cameron has an 6.32 expected ERA for a reason. The biggest reason is that he’s survived pretty much exclusively on his fastball, with several underlying metrics screaming that he’s overperforming even his already bad ERA. Given these factors, Detroit should punish him.

I projected this total at 9.4, would play it to 9, and I’m making this my fourth two-unit play of the year. Hanifee is likely an opener for a presumed bullpen game, but he’s already shown this season that he can go multiple innings. Either way, he’ll eventually turn things into a bullpen that isn’t the most rested. Circling back to Cameron, his pitching run value ranks in the 5th percentile, and his breaking ball sits in the 2nd.

If Brandon Sproat can hold his own early, the Brewers will turn to an excellent bullpen that ranks fifth in xFIP and tied for third in homers allowed per nine innings.
Colder weather and Andre Pallante’s high ground-ball rate (50%) should allow the Cardinals to limit the long ball. That’ll make it difficult to score runs in bulk, helping keep this game Under the total.
